Title: roller coaster mood and energy
Post by: ohRikki on October 11, 2009, 06:34:49 PM
When I began HRT 6 months I was irratible for a week or so but that was it. When my dose was increased a couple months later my mind and body went all over the place. My dose was just increased again and I'm going through the same things. My heart is racing and my mind is going even faster. I feel sick to my stomach and have had diahrrea since the increase. I'm uptight as hell most of the time then I'm sad.Yesterday I was so tired I slept the entire day and then some, now I've been up for 24 hours. On top of it all I feel like no one understands and I'm pulling away from my friends including my best friend who is a genitic female. She doesn't like what I'm going through and isn't sure about it? I was told to expect mood swings but my doc has not mentioned the physiological swings. Has anyone else been through this? If so, do you have suggestions? I'm thinking of asking for valium or something until I mellow.

I've been on hrt over 7 yrs & still have terrible mood swings. I actually thought I might be bi-polar & tried out a couple of bp meds like lithium, but they just made me feel depressed all the time. I don't have a temper & have never had a "bitch fit", but I can go from happy to crying like a fool at the drop of a hat. I love good drama movies, but usually avoid them cause I have to stop them every 5min to compose myself. It sounds to me like what you're going through is normal & the physical things should start to even out more once you find the right dosage & stay on it.

I get super moody and really irritable for about 2 weeks.  When I start progesterone and then for a couple days after I stop.

It's hard for me to comment on the sleepiness and energy, I had FFS four months into HRT, so I slept for days for like 1.5 months after that.  My energy levels were normal after that.  However, over the last two weeks, my energy levels have been all over the place.

Monday I was up for like 25 hours, tried going to sleep, but couldn't, Tuesday I slept for like 3 hours and then was up for like 23 hours again.  Today, I got about 8 hours of sleep.  Dunno.  Last week was worse, almost felt like insomnia, but not quite.
