Title: Infections?
Post by: Jamie-o on October 13, 2009, 04:50:10 AM
So, I have been having a spate of UTIs lately, yay for me!  :(  My doctor was curious about whether the T is causing a change in PH balance that is affecting my system's ability to stay balanced.  That made me curious,as well.  So, how about it?  Have you guys noticed an increase in urinary tract or vaginal infections since starting T?

I've actually read of some guys getting recurring UTIs while on T. Don't know if that's a coincident or not.

I'm mtf but I have a ftm friend that was on "T", accually a couple different kinds. He had to stop due to severe acne and UTI's.

I've had one uti since starting E and let me just say...OUCH! My Dr chuckled and said "welcome to woman hood!  :)

I've never had a UTI and I hope I remain innocent in that area.

As for acne, I was prepared to go back to keeping Clearasil in business like I did in my teens/20s but I just have a tiny bit more pimples than before and it's just random all over, my face is doing great! Many transguys are not this lucky!

I've had no UTI issues while on T, or while on Doxycycl, which apparently greatly increases the risk for UTI's (male and female).  Actually, I can't say if I've ever had a UTI...

Just wait, dude... at 3 months, my acne was only just getting started  :P
Went crazy at 4...
Starting to get a bit better now.

Amen, dude. It took me 4-5 months, back on T this time, for the acne to go nuts. And go nuts it has. It gets worse every month. It hasn't even touched my face, thank god, but is everywhere on my shoulders, chest, and back. Not only is it ugly, but it's frickin' painful. I've taken to washing my back, shoulders, and chest with anti-acne wipes every night, then applying a thick layer of Clearasil, and it's barely helping.

As for UTIs, though, never had one. Never had a problem with them. Now, you may be dealing with something beyond this treatment, but I know cranberry juice can work wonders for that sort of thing. It tastes nasty, but you can also take cranberry supplement pills... might be something to try.

Mine went full-force at 2 months on my chest, back and neck. Since using an acne treatment regimen it's gotten alot better (so far). I'm getting less of them too.

I seem to get the breakouts around & along my binder so I'm thinking that's part of the problem. Since it's getting cooler and I'm sweating less the acne has decreased. If all goes well hopefully by next summer I will have had top surgery. :)

Sebastien, I recommend University Medical AcneFree 4 step treatment. It works great! It can make you prone to rashing after awhile so sometimes you have to skip days.
