Marco and I were having a discussion at dinner and we thought it would be an interesting topic...

My favorite is 2002 Kendall Jackson Grand Reserve Chardonnay.

What's your favorite?

It depends on the food being served.  Red goes wonderfully with most Italian or tomato based foods, but a white wine goes good with a steak.  Sometimes a blush is preferred.

It depends what you are eating for dinner... ;)

Reds....... Chteau Lafite Rothschild Pauillac 1996 goes wonderfully with a home made pot roast.....

.....and as far as white wines...Vin Santo 1998 accentuates a perfectly  grilled chilean Sea bass, or you can simply drink it with almond biscuits ;)

With all of the medicines I take I have to severely limit my alcohol intake.  I am partial to some of the Australian Cabernet's and Merlots, though.  Especially with steak or spaghetti and meatballs.  YUM!

Sorry, I'm not much of a wine drinker, but I was feeling left out.. :'(

For you Buffy...How 'bout sharing a large bottle of nice red wine???  Just kidding, but I couldn't resist.

   I prefer a good red...as a general rule reds go best with richer foods such as Italian or with red meats.  I like a nice merlot or pinot noir myself but good wine is good wine.  I prefer white's with fish or lighter flavors....I have a preference for chardonnay's, Yellow Tail is a current favorite.

  I subscribe to the theory that the best wine to go with what you are eating is what you like.  Red or white doesn't matter as much as enjoying the wine.  I can't really name a vintage as I'm not financially secure enough to pick and choose to that degree LOL.  Often times with wine, as with champagne, the vintage or the price means little.  What counts is do you like it.........if so by all means drink it.

Boone's Farm has an apple wine that is just superb!  It goes with any meal.  And it doesn't have that pesky cork, instead a convenient screw cap.  I like it so much I drink it straight out of the bottle.  I keep a case of it on hand at the north end of my cardboard box which is nicely protected from the elements just under the main street overpass.  One of my neighbors will only drink MD 20/20.  She's such a snob!

Wild Vines also have some superb selections with one of those convenient screw caps.  ;)

I love wine, but I am also not rich.  My wife and I usually have a bottle of wine with dinner about three times a week.  It depends on the food--I generally stick with the red wine with red meat white wine with white meat rule, but if the meal is spicy then red is good no matter what.  For good value it is hard to beat the Australian wines--Yellow Tail Shiraz is one of our favorites.  Yellow Tail also makes a nice Chardonnay--it is one of the few inexpensive Chardonnays that is drinkable.  Our favorite everyday whites are the German wines--Zeller Schwartzkatz (Black Cat) is a nice fruity white that goes well with fish or chicken.  For a quick pasta meal--bottled marinara sauce and spaghetti--we generally go for the cheap Carlo Rossi Paisano or Chianti--it tastes just like what Uncle Vito used to make.
