I'm having more and more opportunities to fully dress and the uncomfortable foam pads and such (socks even) I'm using now are just not up to the chore.
On the other hand, I don't have the money for good really natural forms or for legitimate bras in my size for that matter but that's another story)
So anyway, i was looking for something at least a bit better than what I'm doing and i found these, cheaply, on ebay:

So my question is - do they work?
At least to the extent they claim?
I assume that better silicone type inserts or forms are WAY out of my current price range but I'm open to suggestions if any of you know of a cheap alternative...
Silicone ones are better. Look at JoAnn's Fabrics, they have a couple that are fairly inexpensive. Also As-Seen-On_TV stores have some that are a little more money.
Janet
Oh I know the silicone is the way to go. but you got to remember that $20 is "fairly expensive" for me (I've been passing up lusted-for epilators when they get over $20 on e-bay for 2 months now)
What I'm looking at here is being better than a rolled up sock lol.
I just wonder of those thing actually pump up like they claim because being able to downplay them close to home and wear them bigger elsewhere would be of a good value if they look at least decent.
I just went through my closet to make sure, & yes like other things, I threw out my silicone breast forms. I had 3/4 that I would stack & that worked very well. I'm guessing your breasts are over sized in circumfris, diameter, radius, or whatever, & no matter what bra you find will not fit, & more importantly will not present. My best advice is to find the best way to stuff your bra w/o wearing it & then test it by wearinging it, then wrap it(the stuffing) good in plasticic wrap. Then double check it by trying on. You can use tissue or toilet paper to form nips. After this use baby powder or cornstarch to keep the girls comfy as possible against your skin.
Well, at the moment I have three things:
1. A gigantic bra with no label in it but has to be like 48 inches or something to go around me - the problem is the cups are like EE or something....there's a limit to how much you can stuff cups that size and come out natural
2. a Wrap around bra thing..I guess sort of like a sports bra...that's strapless and has preformed cups. When I want to "build up" when I'm going to Memphis (or taking a pic) or wherever, I use this one. it's not so tough to get a decent look when the cups are the bra are preformed...I've been using some foam rubber pads and filling it out with socks. The foam is kind of irritating on my skin.
3. a tank top with the built in "bra" which I just put the pads in for a little hint of something going on when I;m close to home...and again, that means I'm putting up with that foam ruubbing which is certainly tolerable but if i could do better without much cost i would.
I'm not going to get a really correct look, I'm sure, until i have an actual proper bra anyway but you know, yu do what you can and wait about the rest.
Gurl, I am laughing so hard right now, not at you, but at myself. I wish I could just hug you & say I understand in ways that has to be kept inbetween you & me. I love you because you let me laugh at myself in the best of ways! I am going to bed tonight thinking of us trying to help each other with our bras, having heated disscussions about this, then when a cute guy looks our way, we turn on each other cuz we both know he was looking at us!
Laura,
Have you tried the bird seed in knee highs yet? Or flax seed? They are easier to adjust.
Just a thought.

For years when I was CD I would stuff nylon panties in my bra. That worked pretty well as long as I was careful not to get the elastic edge on the outside. (Makes a line visible outside the bra.) I would just stuff more in if I wanted to be busty.
When I could finally afford actual forms, I got some cheap ones and put them on. I immediately felt so right. (And still thought I was just CD. :P)
I still use some triangular ones that are cloth-covered foam, although I'm gradually outgrowing them. I got them from Old Pueblo. They come in many different sizes. Here's a link:

Laura, I looked a little more into the website. It doesn't help you with sizing. If you are interested in these, either get a catalog and look at the chart they print there or write me with your bra size and I'll look up on the chart.

I don't like them at all. I have very small breasts which probably really need a padded bra but I don't wear one. I personally prefer to be as natural as possible.
Q-bra by Glamour Boutique...I swore by them until the hormones kicked in and i grew my own.

Don't let the picture fool you. I used to order the D size ($19.99)and it was amazing.
Good luck to you!!!!

A LOT of cis women girls use inserts.
Laura, you're gonna think I'm pulling your chain but I'm absolutely serious. I read an article years ago that suggested taking the feet of old pantyhose, cutting them off and filling them with birdseed. Out of curiosity I did it and they were very natural feeling. Scout's honor!
There's a lot of jokes about doing this, such as birds wanting to perch on your boobs, but there's a real down side, the smell.
If you're going if for BA some doctors suggest using rice as a fill to determine what size you want. I suppose there are other substitutes too. I never went past the birdseed experiment.
Of course, if you're trying to create some cleavage, this method isn't as effective unless you pack the nylon footie pretty tight. But then you loose feel and natural bounce.
I think you can keep below the $20 limit with this method. ;D
Julie
Yeah, I've seen the rice/birdseed idea before. I meant to check that out today and forgot it.
