Title: Microwave Pop Corn
Post by: V M on October 30, 2009, 08:18:56 PM
I don't eat it very often, but I do like it. Take the wrapper off, throw the bag in and listen and smell that buttery yumminess  :icon_dribble:

:icon_chew: But I noticed, many of the kernels don't pop  ??? Well, this time I saved the bag and poured the un-popped kernels back in and gave them another zap.  :icon_chew: Still pretty good

Third time's a charm. All but nine remaining kernels popped. I was feeling satisfied and figure those just aren't gonna pop

I don't have any right now, but yes I love it.  Especially when I am low on food.  Fills the tummy.

Oh well.

I hate it too.  Vile stuff.  Tastes like clumps of expanded polystyrene when its plain and butter just makes it taste like buttered polystyrene.  You girls enjoy your popped pigeon food :)

Well, probably. That was meant to be my opinion on the popcorn though.

I do like popcorn quite a bit (I'll eat it all!!!)

But my snacker fiending has shifted to Raisin Bran Crunch (eaten from the box) with Creamy Peanut Butter (spooned from the jar)

Any of you have some good Snacker Fiendings?

Apple slices with PB

Potato chip (or nacho) sandwiches real good with sandwich spread too.

Bananas and evaporated milk over a shredded wheat biscuit

I like it. mmmmmm fake buttery polystyreny goodness.

I like making my own too the old fashioned way in a pot, with lots of butter, or some homemade toffee/caramel on it. But sometimes the microwave packets just hit the spot and are oh so convenient.

I don't like regular pop corn.  I prefer different flavours, with cheese, caramel & almonds.

I hate it, sorry.  We usually eat peanuts or Chex Mix!

I'm with you there, I also hate it!  Every time I pop microwave popcorn, most of the kernels don't pop.  Why spend the money on the stuff when all you're going to wind up doing is throwing it away because it didn't pop?

For the perfect microwave popcorn.  Microwave according to directions or use the button on the oven.  After it stops popping push the minute button and listen till the popping stops.  Just keep doing that and watch for burning.  I have very few old maids that way.

Damn.  Now I want popcorn.

But my serious snack addiction is Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.  Or, barring that, peanut butter, light corn syrup, and chocolate chips.  And a big glass of milk.

Excuse me, I'll be right back.  *runs off to the kitchen, diet be damned*

I think I am in love!  :icon_flower: :icon_love:  Try Reese's pieces mixed in with the popcorn after it has cooled.  OMG Heaven.

I was hoping that this was the start of a 12-step program for those who eat popcorn.

I don't have any in the house right now, because if I did, I would eat it all.  I have very little self-control.

I also like making the regular stuff, but having microwave popcorn is on par with getting heroin in pre-filled syringes.  It is way too convenient.

Spinach dip with dark rye is a very close second.  And crunchy peanut butter on apple slices is a way that I delude myself that I'm eating healthy.

Damn, now I'm hungry!!!

*Sandy goes off to prowl toward the pantry and refrigerator with serious intent*

To me, it's just popcorn. I've gotta say that movie theatre popcorn certainly takes the crown! I don't eat popcorn except while watching movies. Now on spiro, it's like my mind is always asking me, "where's the salt?" I definitely see microwaved popcorn being a totally delicious hot and salty snack. Oh god, as mentioned before, REESE PEANUT BUTTER CUPS!!! Love them! I could have a Reese binge, or Nutella by the half kilogram.

I know this is getting of topic but:

Many years ago I walked into the kitchen and my (USA born) wife was toasting marshmellows on top of peanut butter on toast. What's that; I said in horror; Breakfast she replied.

Very strange people in the USA, very strange.

What is wrong with Vegemite on toast?

Can't get it up here 'mate!  I've had a taste and I really liked it.  I found it in some specialty store, I can't get it anywhere else it seems.

Ew, popcorn.  I haven't eaten it in years.  The snack of choice is tortilla chips + salsa or honey roasted peanuts!
