Title: Another new guy's intro
Post by: Konnor on October 30, 2009, 11:22:40 PM
Hey everyone. I've been reading this site for a while now and finally decided to join and post. My name's Konnor, I'm from Ohio and I'm 19. I'm still rather confused about my gender identity, so I kind of live two lives as the moment. I'm out to my parents, a few close friends, and I have a lot of seperate male stuff online. My parents freaked out and forbid me to do anything until I move out, so as of now I just present male with my female name. I bind and sometimes pack. I pass very well as male and I've been passing unconsciously for years. I only found out about 2 years ago what transgender actually is, and it just fit. I'm still not sure who I am because of other reasons, but I'll write a different post about that. I'm just here to meet other people, get support when I need it, and help others out when they need it. Guess that's about it...thanks for being such a warm, welcoming community. It's very inviting.  :)

Hi Konnor, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 3500 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another brother. :icon_hug:

And be sure to check out

Blessed Be.
Janet

Hi Konnor, welcome to Susan's!

One piece of advice I have is to try not to live a double life. Be yourself 24/7. Trying to separate things like, being male here and being female there makes life very difficult, and at that point neither life you're living is really true. I dunno if the whole issue with your parents and the living two lives thing is causing the confusion, but I think only when you pull those two worlds together will you really be able to be yourself.

Anyway, I'll see you around here and I can also be found in the Susan's chat.  8)

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!! Austin, I'm a few hours away from both Akron and Cleveland, so that's not real plausible. I've been looking around for support groups closer to me, but seems like the closest ones are probably Columbus. Oh well!

Hey, what's up?
We are somewhat in the same situation, except im older and haven't "came out" to anyone but my best friend.
That sucks about your parents, just try to educate them about it.

Welcome to the ->-bleeped-<- Forums! (Erm, maybe I shouldn't say '->-bleeped-<-,' some people take it as offensively as 'n!gger' or 'f@g'...)

Congrats on coming out to your parents, even if they reacted badly. Takes a lot of courage and trust to do that.

My advice is to not subscribe to any gender only to fit in as that gender, but be yourself and figure out what floats your boat. I mean, just because I like sewing my own clothes doesn't make me a chick, and dressing like a bum (and washing my laundry only when I have nothing clean-smelling to wear) doesn't make me a guy. ;)

I have a pro and a con view to this. On the one hand, living two lives IS difficult, especially if people who know you as female mix with people who know you as male. Lotta confusion there. On the other hand, sometimes you may have to live a double life, for safety reasons, or just not being ready to 'go all the way.'

No problem, and thank you as well. I don't plan on doing it for a while, but congrats to you for being so brave.

Well all you can do is try, and give it plenty of time.
