Title: has anyone undergone orchidectomy
Post by: jerigirl82 on November 02, 2009, 05:20:13 AM
my question is has anyone here undergone an orchidectomy procedure?  i am considering this and would like to know how people who have had it done feel about it.

i am 48 years old and am tiredof the discomfort of my testicles and would like to start to become more feminine.

thank you foryour answers in advance....

Yes, I had an orchi.  Janet Lyn is about to have it done as well.

I documented mine in my blog here in Sandy's Transition.

It was one of the better things I did in my journey.

Good luck!

It's not clear from your post whether you are already on hormones and whether you've seen a therapist.
Getting an orchiectomy out of the blue is probably not a good start to transition.
Besides, afterwards your body will be in need of some kind of hormones.

I suggest (if you haven't already) to see a therapist and to start on hormones first.

Not sure what I could say that you probably haven't already researched, but please visit a sperm bank before you go - even if you are SURE you'll never need it - it won't take long to do, and you are a lot less likely to regret saving sperm than not saving it.

This is from personal experience of course. ;)

I have had one and if you are well into HRT and done plan on SRS within the year, I think it is the way to go.

I love the fact that those nasty things are no longer part of my body.
