Title: To stand or not to stand?
Post by: notyouraverageguy on November 04, 2009, 05:34:58 PM
That is the question...

Do you prefer to stand to pee, or sit?

If you stand, do you use a device? If so, what device?

And which restroom do you use, ladies or gents?

Stand (it's faster), Mango (took 6 months to get it--great product because of the receptacle, but only order if they've gotten things straightened out), gents ('cuz I don't get weird looks in there).

Sit, Mens. I do have a DJ but I have not mastered it yet, better but not perfect.

Don't own an STP, tried doing it the old Chinese traditional way for women, like getting things in position with my fingers... felt like a burning sensation, stop practising.

I sit, lol. It doesn't matter, I see no time differences.

Maybe your hands were dirty?

Hmm, lol.

Well to me it seems like standing takes longer, but maybe its because I haven't mastered taking it out and putting it away yet...

Nope, not dirty. It's just a tender area.

Hmm... kinda neither. I seem to have mastered the "hovering" bit since starting back to school, because the guys there apparently have no aim whatsoever, and the last thing I want to do, especially when rushing to get to class, is wipe someone else's urine off the seat. Ugh.

I really wish I could use an STP device of some sort, simply because it would make things far easier ("hovering" strengthens the quads, but it's annoying)... but it just doesn't seem to be in the cards, at least not until I'm able to make my own (which would require money for parts). Oh, and I use the men's. Of course. I wouldn't be here right now if I'd even tried to use the women's room in the past 3 years.

Sit (still haven't managed to get the STP down pat and til I get a solid month of no leaks I'm not risking it publicly)

Mens is what I prefer...though I'm more likely to use the womens quickly (quickly as if it was on fire quickly) because I don't pass that often yet. Though if I have a choice in the matter, neither. I hate public bathrooms of any kind.

Sit. Can't get the hang of any type of STP I've used so far. (Coffee can lid, medicine spoon, cutoff shampoo bottle) I may eventually get a commercial one like a Freshette but idk how well they work (Anyone here use them?)
I use the ladies (ugh) at school, if there's a one-stall bathroom anywhere else I use the mens.
Is it just me, or is it really weird that girls are always talking in the bathroom? Do dudes do that? -_-'

I have the issue with ladies...I can't piss in peace with all that yammering. And I don't know HOW they all pee all over the seat, but they have about as bad aim as men sometimes.

As for men's, it always reeks as compared to the floral-scented women's room.

Therefore, public bathrooms are only for emergencies for me.

It's because the misinformed assumption that the toilet seat is a "dirty" place and so they hover, and when they hover, they pee all over the place, making the toilet seat "dirty".

Asses are cleaner than hands, they're also cleaner than mouths, and urine can be used as a natural disinfectant in a terrible pinch, so there is absolutely no reason what so ever to hover, other than strengthening the quads, but people don't "know" this and they are "terrified" of germs and so, they do the misinformed, ignorant thing, and hover (which makes a mess that makes the next person want to hover too.. and so on).

At my first trip to the ladies I was blown away by the talk from the stalls. I still get the giggles. When I was going to the gents no way would guys speak in stalls. Yes at the urinal, but they are foul anyway (JMO and very open to personal prejudice ).  I still have the equipment but standing doesn't work for me. I end up all wet for some reason :(.

Sit. Can't be bothered with the equip and haven't mastered it yet. And men's room always. I'm almost 6 years into T, so it wouldn't be a smart idea for me to use the women's. Plus men don't piss all over the seat.

Report them! Companies like that take advantage of the few customers they have, charging high prices, promising them the best quality prouct. No one deserves that kind of poor service, they should be shut down...

I don't have a STP so sitting is what I do. I use a gender neutral restroom is at all possible.  Unfortunately due to my chest size (DD)  I really do not pass as male and would get killed probably using a mens room (well maybe not killed but I wouldn't get a good reception.  Now once I have top surgery...some day...I'll probably pass just fine for the mens room.

I prefer to sit for now. I am just starting out with a home-made STP.

I use a cut off medicine spoon, it's pretty good IMO.

Sadly, I use the womens restroom when I'm not "dressed up." Otherwise I avoid the restroom like the plague if it's public. I can't go full time yet, so yeah.

Hate public restrooms, avoid them like the plague. I've actually gone out in bushes to avoid using a crowded public restroom (many times) before. If it's a risk of pissing my pants, I'll use the women's restroom. (weak bladder... bleh)

I use an STP (except when the red death is visiting... and even then, I use one at home). I've still got a couple travelmates kicking around, I've also got a medicine spoon with piece of hose attached. Also gotten good enough I can piss in a bottle without needing any sort of 'tools'. (We do a lot of gardening... so most of the urine ends up in the yard, as fertilizer. lol.)

Lol im pretty clumsy myself, and that's what im afraid of. I haven't gotten a good enough technique for it to be quicker than sitting.

Stand. It's been hella cold here lately, and the toilet seat is freezing! I also feel kind of bizarre standing to take a pee in the women's room, so I will use the mens, unless it's a bathroom that's single only and I'm with my boyfriend, in which case I'll usually just use the womens and then sulk about it.

I've used medicine spoons, sanded off medicine spoons attached to hose, the Pstyle and the Travelmate, the 'hand' method, have a Shewee coming in the mail, will eventually pick up a Whiz also. Once I've used/determined the pros and cons of each, I'll probably make a video or something talking about them and visually comparing them.

I feel you on the clumsiness thing. When I'm trying to adjust a prosthetic, undo my pants, get the thing in place, hold this with one hand, hold that with the other, fiddle, gah! I only have two hands! So for the first couple of weeks, yeah, definitely not time effective and also, pee'd myself a couple times. But since that first week I've been almost exclusively standing with no leaks whatsoever. Now if only I could do it through my pros without having the thing smashed BETWEEN my thighs! (Not right... Just... So anatomically not right to have balls in your crack and willy bent at a downward 90 degree angle!)

Edited for minor typos.

I use the men's room and sit to pee.  I don't really feel the need to buy/make an STP, plus it seems inconvenient to carry it around.  At first, I'd feel really weird sitting down to pee in the men's room, but guys really don't think anything of it.  I've never even had a weird look

:icon_weee: that just about made me laugh hard enough to pee myself!!!

Anyways, I STP whenever I a) have my device and a waterbottle with me and b) don't have to go so bad I'm at risk of peeing myself (periodically weak bladder). Doesn't matter whether I'm in the ladies' or the gents', but it's better when the gents' is a one-person WC. My STP is kind of a hassle to use, as it has to be at least rinsed well after each use before storing cos it can't pack.
But since I'm on a small college campus, I could run into too many bio-males I know in the gents', and then there would be a major weird-factor in there ;D so I try to use only the dorm loos.

I use a medicine spoon to stand at home, but I don't use it in public because I haven't completely gotten the hang of it yet. I always use the men's when I'm in public - i.e. at college, though. I want to get a packing stp, but I haven't really decided what one yet. ???

I can tell you guys (as a used to be guy) sitting to pee isn't gonna be seen as weird by other men in the bathroom. Guys are NOT going to be wondering why you chose a stall, they will assume you didn't just have to pee. They sure aren't going to be "checking" what you're doing either so don't even consider being paranoid about it. If you want to stand, have at it. But it's not required to not be clocked.

Im still paranoid to this day, and ive been consistently using only the mens room for a while now. :/ But I use the stalls only, even if im alone I sit. The only time ive used my stp standing up in public was when I would be intoxicated lol. It gave me confidence, plus I had to pee and there were no toilets around :O

I prefer to stand because it reduces dysphoria and feels natural. I just have a medicine spoon right now. Sitting can be convenient though at times, so I do that too because it's faster and no chance of pissing on yourself. lol.

Men's bathroom.

Mens room, or sometimes if it's closer or I feel like it I will use the disabled bathroom. I mostly sit, unless I feel the need to stand and usually that's only at home. When I STP I use a go girl and modified packer. Problem is in the past when I've worn it out etc things move and are no longer lined up etc so if I used it in public I would need to go to a stall anyway to be able to position it right..

I'm just waiting for bottom surgery. I've never had any probs sitting - if there is no stall when I first walk in I have stood at private (singular) urinals for a few moments til others left and the stall was free, then just went in there or just walked out.. As we all know guys aren't really into conversations in the john so are unlikely to say anything and like I said I'm yet to have any prob... It helps looking like a bouncer :D

You know, lately, I've pretty much stopped using the STP.
I just sit.

'Course, I'm out in the open with my transition, but most folk don't seem to notice even if they "know", so sometimes I get asked why I sit down to pee.

My answer tends to be.
"It's better for the bladder, and prostate if you have it, to sit down. 'Sides, I don't have an extension-hose."

I stand. I use gender neutral bathrooms most the time. I am slowly desensitizing myself to the men's room by going in and washing my hands. I'm not used to going to the bathroom with others around since I have been using the single stall bathrooms for so long but I am sure I can get over it.

The Freshette is the easiest STP i've ever used. The only downside in my opinion is that it is a little bulky. I'm in the process of converting one into a STP/Packer, but haven't nailed it down yet.

Men's, and I stand using my STP packer. If I don't have my STP, I use gender neutral bathrooms (if I can find one) or hold it in till I get home.  At home, I sit. Keeps the stp in better condition for when I need it.
