It would have been nice if I knew about this earlier. Then there could have been more depth and possible interviews.
But just learning about the ->-bleeped-<- Film Festival this weekend doesn't give one much time to prepare – but it sounds like a hell of a lot of fun and not a drag (pun intended).
So the ->-bleeped-<- Film Festival begins Friday, Nov. 6 at 8pm with a theme of "R is for Revolution."
I don't think they could have chosen a more disgusting name for their festival if they had tried. Why does the "GLB" portion of GLBT insist on using that terminology? Imagine how much they would balk at a "->-bleeped-<-git Film Festival" or getting a discount from local hotels by asking for the "->-bleeped-<-git rate"? They say the theme is "R" for Revolution but maybe it should be "D" for de-evolution..they seem to be moving backwards.
While the gays & lesbians may be coming around to understanding there is a transgender element present in all of us, they still see us as an extreme and some see us as an embarrassment, or simply a source of entertainment.
Drag is a gay element. Transwomen don't do drag. Many gays don't get that. They think we are all doing drag. Lesbians typically shun us just as they, to some degree, shun transmen. My personal experience is that more lesbians than not want to separate themselves from G, B and T. We're not really the cohesive unit we'd like to believe.
When gays talk about male born persons in female attire, it's drag and it's entertainment and it's ->-bleeped-<-. Thus the common use of the word. They can't comprehend having a female brain. Even overly effeminate gays temper their feminine side to some degree because of this lack of understanding. I'm not saying all, but for the majority that's pretty much true.
