Title: Want to buy: new lungs
Post by: Jeatyn on November 07, 2009, 07:24:15 PM
I'm incredibly cranky, and tired. I haven't slept properly in forever because every time I lay down I can't breath. I have to wear a dust mask because EVERYTHING in the air sets off an asthma attack. Pollen, dust, hair, feathers, any kind of spray (air freshener, deodorant, etc) fumes from anything from paint to cleaning stuff, I wear it during the day around the house and while I sleep. It's been especially bad this week because of all the bonfire night celebrations, smoke in the air constantly from fireworks.

It's well established that my doctors are complete idiots so they have been no help whatsoever. I even have to beg them to prescribe me inhalers because apparently I haven't been tested for asthma and they aren't sure I actually need them. Tested? I've needed inhalers as far back as I can remember, I've been in hospital for it a few times, I'm pretty damn sure all this is in my medical history. Every time I ask for a new inhaler I have to go through explaining this, and then I ask them to schedule me a test so I don't have to go through the stupidity again next time, and they fob me off and say I don't need one. I don't even know how they would test for it, make me run and see what happens?

I'm losing my mind, and wanted to rant about it :'(

I'm moving in a week, getting my old doctor back and I can't freakin wait. It'll be such a novelty to have a doctor who actually seems to have been to medical school.

Your having difficulty breathing and the Dr.s are acting like a bunch of dumb-F's?  ???

I'd be P-ed off and ranting also  :icon_burn:

When you get back to your reg. Dr. be sure to report these clowns  ;)

It sounds as if your doctors have decided that the best way to control costs is to not treat anyone.  ::)  I'm glad to hear that you will be getting away from them soon!  And I second what Virginia said.  You really need to report these creeps.  From what you've said in your posts, it sounds as if they have no business being doctors.   >:(

Triplw what they said.

BTW have you seen an allergy specialist? It might be an idea.

But really in the asthma epidemic we have in the WW I would have thought that any Dr would be aware of the problems you face.

Hope you are feeling better

How would I report them? I wouldn't have a clue. I don't like using in house "complaint cards" because I don't feel they ever go anywhere. These doctors also refuse to prescribe me allergy pills, they say I should buy ones myself from supermarkets or wherever. I'm no pharmacist but I'm guessing that the store bought ones aren't as good as the prescribed ones, otherwise why would they be different?

I saw an allergy specialist as a kid, the only one that wasn't the generic hayfever and dust/hair sort of allergys was citrus.

The main problem is that I live in my sisters house, who is an animal lover. She has 3 dogs and she bought me a cat, they are deadly. I do love my cat but it was a sort of spur of the moment "look I got you a kitten!" thing. I wouldn't dream of getting rid of her now, even if she is slowly killing me :P and anyway, the house I'm moving to in a week already has two cats so not like getting rid of mine would make a difference.
