Title: Female wanting FFS
Post by: Emilee on November 25, 2009, 06:34:06 PM
Hi everyone! I am new to Susan's Place. I live in Chicago, born a female and would like some feedback on anyone who has undergone FFS.  :)

I read the post you made in the FTM forum. I'm not sure FFS would be right for a genetic female. It's usually very invasive and extensive surgery, nothing like normal plastic surgery, which sounds like what you're looking for. I would echo the replies from some of the guys in the other post about checking out a plastic surgery forum or a forum specifically for the type of plastic surgery you're looking to have done.

The thing that makes FFS different from normal plastic surgery is that there's usually a lot of bone work done. Unless you need bone work done FFS is probably not right for you.

Hi Sarah, thanks for responding! I do think I can benefit from jaw reduction and forehead filing. I actually had a consultation with Dr Zukowski. He recommended jaw reduction, forehead coutouring, rhinoplasty, and chin filing. I did not see any animated pics but I think this would make me more beautiful. :)

Hola Emilee

first what is soo confusing with you all, she does no have to be m2f, f2m or any other pigeonhole. I assume you are gendered female but want more female features? so want to reduce your masculine features.

Yes Dr Z is great he is known for soft tssue more then bone, Dr Ousterhout or Dr Speigel in Boston specialise better in bonework if that is what you want or want something more then just a contour or ofc Dr Suporn in thailand who is also a world class surgeon for bone and tissuework. All of them are well worth a consultation and can be done by email if you live any distance.

Good luck in your search

Hug

p.s
Seriously i was also annoyed by the over priced ffs Dr comments in her other post, they specialise in removing you male features and need to be expert in female feature contouring as well as soft tissue, something you rarely find with an average cosmetic surgeon who if you are already in female range then great no problems but they will always be conservative and most m2f need much more then that.

Please do your homework before making sweeping comments, others read these posts and need help too.

She's a cisgendered woman.
It's not that complicated.

Thanks Ms Delgado, I will keep this in mind. ;)

Most of those surgeons specialize in transformation work, and have a loyal following the TG world.  But the best plastic work in the US is done in Beverly Hills and the LA area for obvious reasons.

However, if she truly needs or desires bone work, I would say that the FFS surgeons may be uniquely qualified for such a task, in regards to the shaping and shaving of jaw/chin and forehead regions to more feminine proportions.   It is a bit specialized, especially on the aesthetics ....

The important point here, imo, is distinguishing if it's bone work or fleshy work.   For fleshy work, I would most certainly agree with you, find a good (reputable) cosmetic surgeon in your own back yard!

I had surgery with Dr. Zukowski, and I have been, and continue to be impressed by his care.

I spoke with him this morning, and he typically addresses concerns before I have a chance to bring them up.  For me, this morning he told me that my nose might need a small revision, and that he would help me getting there as well as covering the cost of the revision.  One of the things that I really like about Dr. Zukowski is that he "stands behind" his work, or guarantee's it.  If I had to live my life over again, situation being the same I would go to Dr. Zukowski again.

I don't think FFS is inappropriate for genetic women.  It all depends on what you need or want to get corrected and the ways that they can be achieved.

Lastly, you will typically find that most people are pretty loyal to their own plastic surgeon (like me).  Definitely call, ask what they can do.  Get information packets.  Get background information on their education and work.  Check certifications and find out what plastic surgery associations they are associated with, if any.  Lastly, I would make sure that the plastic surgeon you are seeing is a doctor, and had training in surgery.

I don't remember if anyone brought it up, but Dr. Zukowski is in the Chicago area, Glenview if memory serves.  If you do see or speak with Dr. Zukowski, let him know that I sent you (I get nothing out of it, but you might - I don't know), Valerie from WNY!

I think there's probably plastic surgery forums out there that are more specific to your needs than a forum for transgender people. (If you are a cisgendered woman which I am assuming from your post)

Yeah, but FFS is something that a lot of people in here have some experience with, and perhaps there is a need for something more profound than just a cosmetic trick or two.
