Title: Sublingual estradiol
Post by: Hannah on November 26, 2009, 11:52:19 PM
If you do it, how long does it take your pill to be absorbed? Do you place it under the tip of your tounge or further back?

So do you take your other meds first or after? My morning sitting at the medicine cabinet includes spiro, dutas, biotin, vitamin c, lol...estradiol, celexa, and low dose aspirin. Lunch is more estradiol, bedtime is the same except swap the celexa with ambien and a multivitamin.

The reason I bring it up is I read somewhere that if youre tasting the estradiol you're swallowing it, and not to put anything in your mouth for 15mins before and after.

yea, you shouldn't drink for about 15 minutes after or so to let it absorb. I put it back under my tongue and alternate sides. I take my spiro with water and the water helps to wet my palette and help the pill dissolve quicker.

It doesn't take very long for me. o_0 I never heard you weren't supposed to drink or eat anything for 15 mins after. My estrogen levels are fine (well, high) every time I got them checked. *shrugs*

In the AM dose, I usually get it to disappear in about 15 minutes when I take it after my morning coffee.

The noon dose melts away faster and since I cannot tell legally how many progynova pills I ingest, let me say that the one I take before bed lasts sometimes until the morning as it is still dissolving when I awake. Most times however, it is gone before 2AM or so.

Funny that I take that last pill before I go to sleep - much against any parental warning to do that with something in one's mouth - or you might choke and die. I don't and haven't so far.

There  might be a side benefit here too - since T is higher just before arising, the still dissolving E might do a better job by being there first. I dunnow.

More succinctly - I have had them under my tongue for hours sometimes, minutes at others.

very interesting. I'm on the patch now going to Dr. next week to see about getting the PILL. I hope it makes a differance.

I used to split them but found out that they dissolved inside out without splitting. Like at the end if I'd move my tongue the pill would go from feeling like a solid shape to dissolving into mush, which to me was just the liner of the pill.

My T levels were 70 taking E that way, because it wasn't a time release pill. After seeing a doctor, i'm on estropipate which has cut that almost in half even when taking progesterone, so I should be fully feminizing now. He told me that the non time released estrogens will spike and only last about 12 hours, and as they start dropping off T starts to rise. Bad back and forth.

(Rather, he put me on a higher dose as well, but with this dose lasting 24 hours instead of 12, I'll not get spikes either. My estrogen count was at around 1300 which really freaked me out but he says that's normal because I was taking pure estrogen.)

How does estropipate compare to estradiol cost wise, this 24 hour cycle is compelling. I assume you take it twice a day to keep it from dropping off right before a new dose?
