Title: Eyebrow Dyeing?
Post by: Icephoenyx on November 27, 2009, 10:59:30 PM
I just bought a wig that is a sandy blonde, I really like it, plus it was 50% off!

Not my first choice of color, but like I say, I saved a big chunk of change and only this color was on sale...

But now I'm screwed. I have dark brown hair naturally, and my eyebrows are like that too. Maybe a good wax would help, but is there any way I can lighten them?

Thanks,

Chrissi

Eyebrows can easily be lightened with a bit of fade cream, such as Jolen's.  Just make sure you get the kind for hair and not for skin.  Wal-Mart and drug stores sell it around here.  Use it 2-3 minutes at a time to lighten it little by little till you get it like you want.

Best of luck.

There's an MJ joke in there somewhere, but I dare not say it. *runs and hides*   >:-) (I'm in a weird mood again)

Less than $10.00 at most places.

Anything for eyelashes Kristi, I have pitch black eyelashes

and I want to go medium blonde, and I think having black eyelashes would give it off. But I think it's either impossible or I might have to see a professional.

Actually with Black or Brown mascara, Eyelashes are not a problem even with light blonde hair.  I would not even try to dye eyelashes.  way too close to the Eye.

For eyebrows, I've used 10 or 20vol peroxide and developer (Ie Hair Bleach/blonding)in the past.  applied with a q-tip.  Available at drug stores and beauty supply places.  But A little dab will do and only leave it on for 3-5 minutes at a time.  Me I don't worry about it and some natural blondes have darker eyebrows too.

Like Beni said, dark eyelashes are NEVER a problem. Even blondes use black or dark brown mascara to darken their eyelashes. At most, you would just look like you're wearing mascara which a good majority of women do.
Eyebrows are where it gets tricky. They can look harsh if they don't match the hair and mark you as a bleach blonde (which a lot of blondes are nowadays anyway).

I have the opposite problem, I have to take a pencil to mine just so I can see them. Actually I've known a few natural blondes who had fairly dark eyebrows and roots, it almost looked fake, but it wasn't! Not all blondes have matching eyebrows.

Actually, I like brown-black eyes with blonde hair.  Trust us, it will not look fake unless you apply it wrong.

if you get a hairdye from a drugstore to match the shade of the wig, i don't see why you can't use it on your eyebrows, because they are made from strands of hair.

I've had my brows and lashes dyed for about 2 years. The cost wasn't that bad but my eyes are very sensitive and it bothered me to much.

This probably goes without saying but if you dye them make sure it's made for the eyebrows! Regular hair dye can damage your eyes it's not worth it!

Thanks Mija. I did go to a pro. I still don't think it was worth it

Kristi, did that Jolen's stuff lighten your brows a lot or just a little bit? Is it easy to use?

And how often did you have to reapply it?

Thanks again

It did not lighten it more than I wanted.  It just depends on how long you leave it on.  It is very easy to use.  Just mix up the powder with water and smooth it on with a spatula.  Follow the instructions.
