I was watching some late night tv and saw a show on NatGeo about sex and gender. It was mostly based on intersex stuff and transgendered people. Anyway, they talked about Josie Romero is still physically a male, is not intersexed (as far as I know), and has not even started HRT. However, her parents got her birth certificate, social security card, and passport changed without any surgery.
This is where I get a bit baffled. Josie hasn't had SRS, hasn't had HRT, or anything and yet she is able to get her documents changed.
Does anyone have an explanation to this? Anyone know how the family did this?
I want to know because I talked with judges and para legals about changing my markers while pre-op and met heavy resistance and didn't get anywhere towards my Social Security or Birth Certificate. I did get my drivers license and passport changed, but my drivers license was easy in NY, and my passport was also easy with a letter describing my upcoming SRS. I don't want to know so much for me (I'm having SRS in 3 months), but it might be useful to others.
Thoughts?
There is a workaround I know of but it's legally questionable at best and involves falsifying alternative identifying documents and applying for BC, SS card and passport. (in no particular order)
Heather and I were discussing that very issue. There are a few possiblities, but non that I can think of that would fit such a young little girl.

Depends on who you know and what you can get them to do. I have known a few gals who had things changed ahead of time. I even had an interesting offer or two. Should have gone that route because doing it the lawful way took years and a lot of money.

Very true. Here in the UK, even before our Gender Recognition Act in 2004 made it possible to change a birth certificate, there were off the record ways of getting things covered up and various so called unalterable documents changed if you knew or worked for the right people.
