Title: Hello from FairiesInAmerica.com
Post by: fairywoman on November 30, 2009, 11:56:59 AM
Hello to all gender walkers between the worlds from the editor/owner of FairiesInAmerica.com. I learned about your site by following a link posted by your moderator to FairiesInAmerica.com.

The website is a wrap-up of the faery movement in the U.S. with an emphasis on writing, music, art, performance art, and gender, sexuality and spirituality.

I read some great comments about gender fluidity on here.  I'd like to open up some protracted discussions about how two spirits and gender shapeshifters use these skills in their magic and their everyday lives.

Lately, I have been experimenting with 'everyday drag.' I walk around my little town where I live in Asheville, NC in full drag and just watch people's reactions from my therapist to police officers to friends, they are all interesting.

My roots in gender shapeshifting are with the radical faeries.  Though they are mainly gay male identified, my faery brothers have taught me about 'booger drag, and the ability to inhabit both gender spheres simultaneously and to move between the worlds.

Open to comments of all kinds about these topics and more.

Hi Fairiewoman , :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 3700 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another sister. :icon_hug:

And be sure to check out

Blessed Be.
Janet

Hi- actually you may have followed my links as I have posted some links to your site here, specifically to the gender page (http://www.fairiesinamerica.com/gender/). Though I identify with actual fairies rather than the RF group, our views on gender fluidity are similar. Nice to have you here (https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.faeriewylde.com%2Fimages%2Fsmiles%2Ffaewink.gif&hash=48e34aec052ac7456e33891e47f0d47edbc45563)

As a Druid, I feel that fairies and faeries are my kin, so I am very glad to see you here.
Gender shapeshifting is one of my arts too.  It is so much fun to watch the ones who can "see" and see their reactions, and occasionally engage them in conversation.  It is fun to be a magical being.

Title: Two Spirits Rising
Post by: fairywoman on December 02, 2009, 02:48:02 PM
Yes, it's wonderful to be here. I have been looking for a home on the web for some time.  I want to chat with people who understand me, not just the facebook crowd (yeah they can be fun, too).

I'm a lineaged faery woman and a witch for the past 20 years. Magic is central to my life and it is also a deep part of my gender identity.  We're finally living in age where I believe the two spirits are rising.  The gender page of the website needs to give expression to this.

It's more than just the clothes we wear. It's what's going on inside of us.  I am glad many of you have found the gender page of the site, and I want you to know we are open to submissions if you're interested in submitting photos, podcasts, essays -- that would be great.  The editor of that page is ardalla@fairiesinamerica.com.

Hugs to everyone that linked to FIA.

Yes.  There is a thriving 2 spirit community throughout the US.  It is great to see TG people reclaiming those ancient spiritual places we have walked in years past.  It is indeed happening IN us.

I love Leslie Feinnberg's book, Transgender Warriors. It gives a photographic history as well as a written one.  The two spirit tradition is shamanistic and goes way back to the beginning of tribal life. I like your pic.
Her'es a pic of me performing in drag this past summer.  I have to make like 10 more posts before I can post a profile photo.

I think the magical thing about crossing genders, is that if one chooses not to "pass", then they will draw attention.  If one is insecure with one's look, then the attention will be unwanted, but if one sees the attention as opportunity...to spiritual touch others, and to communicate the magic and wonder of life, then it is a gift to be honored and enjoyed.
I enjoy appearing differently gendered, but at the same time I am very careful about my appearance.  I dress very neat, very clean, sometimes sort of conservative, but much of the time in fashion that will draw attention, but still be appropriate.  In this way people see me as approachable, which I really enjoy, and when I go out I always have "divine appointments" with at least one person.  I define a "divine appointment" as a spontaneous conversation developing with a person that is more than the superficial...a time of "touching" each others soul, and a connection is there.
In these interactions I find I can speak joy and wisdom into other's lives, as well as be blessed by their spirit and wisdom also.  I have made so many wonderful connections just by being "present" in the moment
It is like participating in a world where all things are possible.
It is indeed a magical world.
