Title: Curious about FFS
Post by: rejennyrated on December 02, 2009, 05:28:23 PM
Ok here's the thing folks. I'm quite curious about FFS.

Back in the dark days several centuries ago ;) in the early 80's when I went through my SRS the idea of FFS wasn't so common. So I never had any, and I never really felt the need.

But at 50 I know I am getting to that point where the flush of my youth is fading. So what do you think folks? I'm really curious as to whether I could benefit?  Or was I right in thinking that I didn't really need it? (bearing in mind that my aim was always to be just "Ms average" and not a beauty queen - I don't want to be stunning. Just average.)  Please feel free to be honest. You won't hurt my feelings.

Here is a recent honest undoctored photo without makeup.

I don't know Jenny, you might be mistaken for a 50 year old woman.  Like the old bat pictured to the left.

I see no reason, but it is your face.  You see you everyday and if there is something you don't like, Fix it.

For me, I don't think so.  I would rather spend my money on a BA and then SRS, if I had any that is.  ;D

Hugs and Love
Janet

Hi, rejennyrated. I am Alexia and might offer little help. I do believe you look as feminine as any woman however if change is what you look for I can with your permission alter your immage as to do a little plastic surgery on you and let you see the after efect. I have done just that for queesamor14 here is a link to pics: http://sites.google.com/site/nhenceme/pictures (http://sites.google.com/site/nhenceme/pictures)
I can do the same for you. Love, Alexia.

Thanks for such sensible and reassuring replies people.

It was genuinely just a bad case of curiosity... a wobble! You know how you can go along for years thinking one thing and then suddenly you meet someone who has done it differently... and you think "heck! have I been deluding myself all this time?"

The trouble is I can't see myself as others see me. These days I see a rather ordinary looking middle aged woman. But just once in a while I think... maybe I could have been more. Maybe I sold myself short in my determination to have the MINIMUM amount of medical attention that I possibly could consistent with being functionally female.

So thank you for your reassuring replies. I think I can probably put the demon of curiousity back in the box for a while now. As it is I'm having my bits prettified next year after 25 years of wear and tear... and even that kind of goes against my principles!

Not at all. You don't need any feminization procedures whatsoever. FFS is for people with masculine facial remnants. If you absolutely want to get something done, look into normal makeover techniques for women, like peeling or something. But you really don't look like you need anything at all.

For this time you win and keep your money away from surgeons for world saving purposes such as shoe shopping and other worldly causes.

Love :icon_tenisclap: Alexia.

I know!, what is it about them?, not so long ago when I just couldn't have stored any away I thought that women were superficial in their shoe collecting thing. Once I have got a spot, I can not stop buying , or at least fantasizing which outfit would it go with and then when shoe fits the top does not and so I must go on to find a perfect top. Now, I do understand woman perfectly in their quest for perfection when I become one(so to speak) where was this knowledge when I needed it most conquering females. Oh well,  ;D I just need a bigger closet.

Hi Jenny,

You only posted a small photo, so it's hard to tell. But you look unmistakably like a woman to me.

Still, FFS is about changing a few subtle gender cues, and I think I can see a couple of the most common ones trans women struggle with in that picture, even if they are subtle: there's a bit of a brow ridge and your chin is a bit squarish. So I would guess that you would look prettier with FFS. I think it's really based on how you feel about seeing your face in the mirror.

To answer your questions, Yes, you would probably get some benefit, and no, I don't think you need it. If you are happy with how you look as it is, I don't see how the risk is worth it. What makes me really think I want it is that sometimes when I look at my face in the mirror, my heart just sinks, not because I'm not stunningly beautifull (I can deal with that) but because I see a man, not a woman.

Ah well - I can understand that.

As far as my own face is concerned, I am happy when I'm not having a little wobble. I guess there are things which could be improved but I suspect the difference may be marginal. My chin does look slightly square in that pic, but in other poses not so much, likewise the faint brow ridge - which is hardly there in real life. I said I picked an unflattering honest pic.

Since I became aware of FFS I have spent time analysing natal women and it's surprising how many of them do have ridges and square chins, huge noses and indeed all of the things which we all worry over. Indeed many of them are far more masculine than me and they can't all be TS, so clearly I do fit somewhere within the average "range".

So on balance I'm going to leave it, but it's been interesting to explore, particularly as I am planning to have some other minor work next year as a 50th birthday present.
