Title: VIVA The Resistance!
Post by: Valkyrie on December 02, 2009, 08:13:57 PM
Has anyone else besides me obtained and listened the hell out of the new Muse cd The Resistance? I was very pleased! Much more than I was when I first heard the single or their last album Black Holes and Revelations (which I now like very much but I didn't used to).

I've heard the song "Resistance" and I like it.

I'm not a huge Muse fan though, I heard a few songs and thought they would be good so I bought a couple of their albums. Absolution and Showbiz. Not really that good at all, except for a couple songs.

I might sell them and get Black Holes and Revelations or The Resistance. You say it's that good?

I've listened to it twice so far. I like it, but not as much as I liked absolution and showbiz. a lot of it sounds eerily similar to queen.

Absolution is by far their best album IMO, every single song on that album.

Well, listening to all of their music I can really hear how they've grown in their ability to make music. And I could say I like one album over the other, perhaps, but in all honesty I will always love their bonus tracks and B sides best, such as Spiral Static, Glorious, and Easily. After hearing The Resistance, I feel like for sure they've gotten past any "awkward stage" they've had as a band. And I like hearing the clean style album tracks, but I think they sound way better live. It seems as though each time they play a song it evolves and sounds different. Hullabaloo and HAARP were good (I love the Hullabaloo version Micro Cuts) but their Bercy performance is maybe higher on my list, which isn't an album but can be downloaded from microcuts.net for free. Absolution was the first real album of theirs I'd heard, and compared to previous albums (Showbiz, Origin of Symmetry) They really did well at making it all come together whereas before it almost to me seemed like random songs on a cd.

When I first heard Black Holes and Revelations I felt as though their music sounded very homogenous but upon further inspection they really were playing better. Have you seen Invincible live? I think it's astonishing, as someone who doesn't play guitar.

Matt Bellamy is awesome. I saw Muse at the vegoose festival and during invincible there was an extended guitar break with lots of controlled feed back and stuff like that. at one point he used his guitar to reflect a spot light up above the crowd and started aiming for an airplane flying over head. epic.

Muse is heavily rumored to be at coachella this year, and i'm really hoping that rumor is true. :)
