Gosh it has been 30 years ago ;) that I had the surgery (MTF). Had to go to Galviston Texas at that time, Even though I lived in Las Vegas. Most of the terms I see here are totally new to me. Back then it was you were either pre op. or post op. and in groups it was refered to as a innie or a outtie. I ended up getting married, and have a wonderful daughter and two grand children. :)
I had to after 33 years go get my birth certificate changed from boy to girl and the memories and fears came flooding back, I live in a very small town and had to get a Lawyer with out anyone in my church or my husband finding out. Not a fun thing when you are at Social Security age. OH i need the new birth certificate to get social security and to renew my driver licence. they changed the law on me because of homeland security measures. :embarrassed: Now I have lawyers in two states. the one i live in and the one I was born in. and still no Birth certific.
I work my 40 hours a week in a indian casino in another state and can still "clock" the crossdressors and most transsexuals, I think it takes one to know one.
Don't you agree? :-X
It is no fun living in fear,. and no one knows, no one. ( except my daughter and now two law firms.) everything always comes back to bite you. LOL

Good luck on the b/c. I have to do the same thing, although the SSA changed things with the letter I got from my surgeon. And I am just post Orchie. It just said "irreversible genitalia surgery". Someday SRS, but form now things are working out OK.
Blessed Be.
Janet

Thank you so much for the welcome.
And the links.
Some of the terms i had never heard of before. :-\
Gosh I have been living in the other world for so many years i forgot all the pain and suffering we have to go though to get ourselves "right"
not only for our own mental and physical health. but right with society.
I was so scared to see a non "special" Doctor after my surgery I did not see one for 28 years. And then it was because I had to.
I sure hope things have gotten easier for people these days.
Are the Galvestion, TX. gender docs still among the living? Any one know?
Thanks
Meows
