Title: Can I get shorter?
Post by: Alicia91 on December 10, 2009, 05:21:07 PM
I'm about 6' even. I've always been tall for my age when I was younger, and have always wanted to be shorter. In DnD, I almost always play halflings. Point is, is there a natural or even surgical way for me to become shorter?

Not really. There was an "extremely" radical surgery I heard of once that some girl underwent to get shorter. Definitely doesn't sound advisable though.

Outside of that, loss of muscle mass can create a perceived, and relatively minimal height loss (maybe at most an inch or so). That's about it as far as I know.

In theory it could be done, just as people have been made taller by breaking their legs and resetting them with extension rods in them, you could be made shorter by removing a length of bone, but I'm far from convinced that you would ever find a surgeon willing to do it. It would be far too risky so I'll say No.

After several years on HRT I lost about 2.5 inches - I can't explain that. But it happened. I've got the height record to prove it.

Don't worry, being tall can be very attractive. Some of the most stunning GFs are over 6'.
Besides, I'm 6'2" and certainly wouldn't consider trying to be shorter.

That makes me feel a little better. Still, I guess there's always my dreams.

Do you have a hard time staying hydrated?

The only thing I can possibly think of is a change in spinal, knee and ankle  cartilage and some rolling of the hips. I've lost a bit too and I've noticed I have a big problem staying hydrated, to the point of some moderate pain in my knees that goes away if I drink water like an elephant for a few days.

I was a little worried about being too tall for a girl as well, until I came to university.
There is a girl living in the same dorm that is at least as tall as me (187.5 cm, 6'2''), maybe a bit taller.

She certainly looks like a girl, whether or not she actually is... (I think so, though.)
Therefore, height is not really a disqualifying factor. It helps to see such a person... in person, but they do exist.

Not that I've noticed. I think it may have been muscle wastage coupled with slight contraction of the spine.

By the way on the subject of tall women there's one young girl in our local supermarket who is fully 7 fot - yes SEVEN! As far as I can tell she is a natal woman too. but she dwarfs even my partner who is 6ft (and who, incidentally, used to make a jolly good living as a model).

I believe Elle McPherson is 6'1''. I'd be more than happy to look like her!!

I have GG who work with me who curse because they are 5'5" and want to be 6'.

As ever make the best of what you have.

I know several people that have seen a 1-2" drop in height through HRT, but that's it - nothing overly dramatic.

Hi Alicia
Don't worry so much we all shrink as we get older.
Be happy

It's not so much as trying to pass as it is I was just wondering since I've always been tall.
