Feel free to post a pic ;)
I think they are kind of cool, but somehow I made it through life so far without getting any, not even an eagle, globe and anchor.
Post transition I have been thinking of getting a rose thingy tatooed around my waist because I used to be really fat and I'll be needing an abdominoplasty and it's accompanying nasty scar to get rid of the skin if it doesn't all go away *crosses fingers* I'm planning to have Dr. Suporn just do that while he's down there.
I'm thinking about getting a little heart on the meaty part of my hand. I'm also thinking about permanent eyeliner, but I'm having my forehead and orbital rim worked on next year so I don't want to do it until after that.
So do you have tattoos? Do you think they're pretty/cool/masculine/feminine?
Thirty years ago, when I was a sailor stationed in Arizona (long story), I got a sea serpent tatooed on my right bicep. It's a little faded but still very much there. I certainly wouldn't do it now, and often am reluctant to expose it now that I'm Kate, but people have seen it while I'm the new me and think it is cool. (Or at least the young people do. ::))
When I came home with my sea serpent, my then-wife was so jealous she got a snake bracelet tatooed around her left bicep. (She was working as a bellydancer at the time.) She's since had it touched up, so that it is still nice and bright.

Frank: Do you have any tattoos, Brad?
Brad: Certainly not!
Got a flaming runestave on my neck, a chinese symbol (proof I survived the 90's) on my shoulder, and yes... A Unicorn on my lower back. A tramp stamp..
I designed two of these myself.
They represent parts of my life and the things that highlight them and carry messages from that era to my present, like a permanent "note to self".
I plan to get a full back, shoulders, upper arms, and more done, at later points in life.
No, but since beginning transition, I'm more open to the idea. Lower back or ankle maybe. :-\
No
good show alyssa
Yes.
Two made by a good friend. A bird flying among the stars (on my forearm) and a Janus mask with his name and my another friends name there (on the side of my calf).
and Yes. I was highly intoxicated when this happened :P
Don't regret it though. Sides' they're not very big.
Yep got 2.
one on my back & one one my shoulder.
I secretly wanted to get a tattoo (or several) when I was younger but I never felt I'd be able to get a tattoo I'd really want and would be so disappointed later on post transition with some ugly tattoo. now I'm pretty much over the whole tattoo thing. I would never be able to decide on something that's with me forever anyways, lol.
I would like to get one on my back between my shoulder blades, and maybe a band of some sort around one or both biceps. But not until after lower surgery and not until I've lost some weight.
Jay
No I managed to avoid that somehow, not sure, everyone around me woke up with them at some point, and for years I had access to a reall good old school artist but I've never had anything that I want to say forever.
Except this, you have to love the U.S. Military
a sailor stationed in Arizona I'm sure there is a very good reason for it, but its funny to think of a sailor in a land-locked state, one that is pretty much all desert at that.
No.
For myself I've never really seen the attraction. But each to their own. Some of my freinds have some really nice ones. But personally I think it is one of those situations where simple and subtle looks far better than massive and complex.
Yes a little palm tree on my ass
It's faded, and not particularly feminine, but ...

Well, of course! Arizona faces a formidable threat from a large and imposing neighbor on the far shore of Lake Havasu, a neighbor which attempts a week-long amphibious invasion each spring.
I think that's neat, Kate. It might not be Barbie material but that hooter certainly is ;D
This is kind of like what I was thinking, except unwound from Terras arm and wrapped around my waist.

I've got one on my right arm. It is for a lost loved one. It is gender neutral.
I'm actually working on designing my next one. This one it going to be a butterfly that is blue and pink. I'm still undecided on where to get it. Thinking about my left shoulder.
No, but I am planning to get Starfleet and Federation logo tattoos somewhere on my body because I am a huge Star Trek fan...
Yeah, I got myself two. Don't think I'll ever have the balls to get them touched up though, so it'll be interesting to see what they look like in ten or twenty years  Too many nerves in there.

I do plan on getting more. I want a twirl of flying bird silhouettes high centered on my chest (trying to figure out where they won't get messed up by top surgery, or if I need to wait) and a full-back tattoo of a willow tree. That one'll take a bit of savings. *stares forlornly at his empty coin-can*
Three a Cambodian design on my bicep, a USMC one on my back (fading luckily) and one of Jiminy Cricket (too much to drink while in the military).
Andrew Myles
I'm waiting for the artist to get my designs done, he's doing a butterfly playing guitar on my left shoulder and an animated potato chip on my right. They're gonna be scarified too, none of this ink business.
A tattoo on each shoulder.
Getting them removed most likely, or touched up at the very least.. The only tattoo I actually want is in the back, middle of my neck - Kanji. Will only show in the summer when I pull up my hair... or am otherwise motivated to.

Very nice glider! ;D I also like the placement.
I'm surprised at how many transmen are around in that "subculture" (as much as a loathe that word, I lack a better one). Surprised in a good way, of course :).
I have none at the moment. One day, I want a tesseract.
I'm also considering the Brotherhood of Steel logo (from the Fallout games), and the car from Enduro (for the Atari 2600. I loved that game as a kid). I'm not really sure on either of those though - the Brotherhood logo is getting a little overdone.
Nope & I never willl because when I go old and wrinkly it will look awful!
No.
Yep I do

The 4 dots are my kids
the V is my wife (even though we are getting divorced, but she still is my best friend)
and the sought of transgendered symbol is me
It helps me a lot cause when Im feeling down and wanting to be near everyone I just look at my tat
(or get them on Skype lol)
I have a small star on my left hand wrist and I have a small tribal one on the back of my neck. However I am going to get a full sleeve done on my left hand arm after bottom surgery and scarring healing.. :-\

I've been surprised too, it gives me hope that if I get a job in the field(s) someday, there will be some amount of acceptance. Oh, and I got it done there because my mother's only 'rule' was that it was somewhere I can hide it easily. Doesn't get much easier than putting on socks, ha ha.
That would be wicked cool. You'll definitely need to post pics if you get it done anytime in the near future.
No way!!!
Hell no!
I have one. On my left breast. It is a demon in flames surounded by spirits. Looks very manly. Not a tatto a woman would get. I literally was thinking as I got it that it would be the reason I needed to NOT transition. I (wrongly) figured that such a tattoo would make me incapable of facing transition.
what a dweed I was. lol No one sees my breasts except my SO so it is a moot point.
No thanks!
Never!!
hahaha you're kidding, right?

heh, yeah I think so. I put a little temporary tatoo on my hand and wore it around for a couple days and it didn't look as cute as I thought it would. It did draw attention to my hands which are an attribute of mine, but they are really starting to change a lot now so I think if it ever happens it will be a year or two from now at least. There's the ouch factor two, I'm such a baby that I had to get a bottle of Percocet to be able to finish electrolysis. I dunno if the doc would keep prescribing it just for fun, lol.
I've got four miniscule dots on the back of my right hand.
This Christmas, I got some dip pen handles and various nibs. Now I have a small container of generic calligraphy ink and a glass inkwell of india ink. In my excitement, I dipped a needle-tipped nib into the india ink and stabbed the back of my hand four times. They're still there, and probably will be at least for awhile.
I have a few... :D

... and a few more scattered here and there.
Next I'm getting my chest piece coloured and expanded upon... though I also plan on getting a sleeve started from my right wrist up to my elbow... it's going to be traditional chinese "smoke" surrounding stars, and possibly a dragon. <3
I need to save up a lot more money for surgery though before I can start splurging on such things again. :-\
Oh... and the surface piercing around my neck tattoo is gone (that was from a long time ago)... not to mention the cartilage piercings in my ears (though the plugs are still there).
I've found piercings and tattoos to be very empowering and cathartic experiences during my transition. Love 'em to death, and a heck of a lot more satisfying then self mutilation! :(
I'm not a fan of tattoos and I wonder if it's a generation thing as most people of my generation don't seem to have tattoo's or want them?
I wonder if it's a generation thing
yes, it is. Tattoos in general, but the design and style of them too. Someone my age would not be sporting some tribal deal, if they had one.

I'm not sure what you mean by tribal deal? But I grew up in the 1970's and not many people had tattoo's done when I was young in the area where we lived.
I've got three. One celtic knotwork on my upper back, one band on my right ankle which has pairs of venus symbols in it (and no I don't regret it, I see my tats as like a scrapbook on my body, and that one represents the time of life I got it in). My big tat is a tree on my left arm (which I think I've posted here before).

Eventually I'm going to get a Nintendo sleeve on my right arm. And a Buddhist White Tara on my back. And a few other ideas I'm sure I'll get eventually. :)
I want "love" tattooed on my wrist. Small black flowing script, with the o as a heart, the line extending a bit down my arm and up around my thumb. Plan to design it myself. That's all. I don't usually like tattoos on myself or anyone else. Especially coloured ones.
Yes I do. I designed it myself and told the artist to run with it and she did. Came out beautifully and even caused the start of my SRS to be delayed by two minutes while fielding questions and comments when it was exposed. :)
My plans are to expand what I have and eventually have most of my upper body done. I am still working on the design although I know what I want, just need to tweak it and then save up the $$$$.
