I speak Bulgarian (native) & English
Let's see, a smattering of Spanish and maybe 40 words in German. English has to do most times.
HUUUMMM. English of course. And just enough Spanish to really get myself in trouble.
Janet
English and some German
Maggie
Foreign languages was a hobby of mine when I was young and so I became fairly proficient at a few including:
Spanish, French, Italian
German + some related Scandinavian dialects
Russian, Japanese
The problem with languages is it's a use it or lose it type thing so I've become pretty rusty and have forgotten most of them :-\
But if I'm around one of them long enough I start to pick it back up fairly quickly :)
English and a bit of Khmer (Cambodian)
Myles Andrew
English (as an Icelander, English is a foreign language to me!), Swedish, and I comprehend/can manage through; German, Danish, Norwegian, Faroese and Spanish.
Fluent in Spanish and English.
English and French, although my French is really rusty even though I had 9 years of it, once you stop using it actively you lose a lot. I'd love to be fluent but classes cost a lot. Maybe I can just get a friend to help. :B
Thought I knew some spanish but when we went on vacation 2 peru & chile I found out I know nothin :( :( :( :'( :'(
Couldnt understand anythin. :( :( :-\ :-\ :'( :'(
I only know English & some words in spanish. that's it. :( :( :( :-\ :-\ :-\
English and German (however after not using it for 3 years I think I forgot a lot)
I need to learn Spanish sometime since I live in CA haha
Except for English, I don't SPEAK any language particularly well. I have a good reading knowledge of both Spanish and French. I read Middle English quite easily. My Russian is mostly gone, but I used to be able to stumble through many useful phrases like "krasivaya golaya zhenshina!" and "u vas yest karadash?" ("beautiful naked woman" and "do you have a pencil?")
Funny that those two came up together. (Well, think about it.)
english spanish and some french as my mother was from france

English (as an Icelander, English is a foreign language to me!)
Thank you. Maybe I should have been clearer & titled this thread "the languages you speak" instead of "the 'foreign' languages you speak".
Bulgarian is my native language, so it isn't a 'foreign' language to me. English is.
EDIT: Changed title :)
Dutch is my native language. I also speak Danish, Swedish, German & English.
I lived with my French Canadian Grandmother when I was young and we spoke mostly French. I studied it in high school and could converse but Gram passed, school was over, c'est la vie.
Then I worked in the Dominican Republic for 4-5 years and picked up a lot of Spanish. Now that helps with my interaction with the Puerto Rican people on my island. We get a lot of Danish visitors here.
Eh.. un(e) peau de (la) francais*, mais c'est pas parfait, et mon grammar n'est pas bien. haha, je ne sais pas si vous me pouvez comprehendre
Will translate if asked
*i forget the gender of the noun "French"
So your French isn't that great. When writing that what a Babel fish is for.
Janet
I've found I can do a better job than babble fish does. It has an annoying habit of not correcting verb forms (meaning, using the root word when it's supposed to be 3rd person plural (it's like saying "They go to store")
So I have noticed. ;D
But that was how I found out what you had said, or at least close.
Janet
ha, how did it translate the parenthasies, or did you just ditch those?
fluent in american English, and I can understand basic communication in spanish, italian, and french. I can't 'speak' any of the three though, unless stringing together nouns and verbs qualifies.
I can get through most latin texts with a dictionary; my grammar is excellent, but my vocab is pretty poor. Took it for a few years in highschool.
and even though it's not spoken ::) I'll also mention american sign language. Much better at understanding than communicating though.
English, little bit of Spanish, I can read some french (took it in high school but forgot most of it). I know lots of bits and pieces of other languages from poking my nose around in various places :P.
English of course since I'm writing in it. And an o.k. knowledge of Tibetan, Sanskrit, Hindi, Japanese and Spanish.

"Peau" means skin. I think you mean peu. ;)
"Je parle un peu le Francais, mais ce n'est pas parfait, et ma grammaire n'est pas terrible. Je ne sais pas si vous pouvez me comprendre".
The gender of the noun French is masculine, and the gender of grammaire (grammar) is feminine. Therefore, the possessive adjective "mon" (masculine) has to be in the feminine form "ma" as well. :)

Yeah..I did. lol. Thanks :) Toldya, it's not great :P ("my grammar isn't terrible"?? really? i kinda forgot it had a gender)
My family & I came to France from Uruguay when I was little. French is my native language. I also speak English, Spanish, German & have got some knowledge of Swedish & Turkish.
insanitylives: Every noun in French has a gender & every adjective & pronoun has to match the gender & number of the noun they modify. Same with Spanish.
I.. knew that... I just forget once in awhile, and ususally just pick masculine, since most nouns/adjectives are (yeah yeah i know it's sexist)
IBeing a native Danish gal, I'm fluent in my own language. English, German & some Spanish are my back up!
