I was dreading this day for the last 7 months. He lives in Arkansas and drives a truck over the road and every so often will end up in the Philly area and want to come stay with me for the weekend. He called me about 4 months ago or so wanting me to come to the truck stop and pick him up but I told him I was dealing with some personal issues. I felt bad but wasn't prepared to confront this issue with him at that time. He is a redneck to the core and I really didn't know what to expect.
So I called him today and told him the reason I had not come to pick him up. I told him I was diagnosed with Gender Identity Disorder and have been on HRT for about 7 months and he said he understood what that was. I told him I haven't had a serious relationship in 25 years and he said he knew that and now he understands. He totally accepted me and said I need to do what I need to so that I could be happy and said he loved me because I was his twin brother..or sister he said. I almost started crying right then and there and am fighting back tears at this moment.
What a way to end the year 2009! It warms my heart to know that I will still have my twin brother! I love him so much.
I am so happy for you. We need all of the loving support we can get.
Randi:)
What a great way to start the new year, Dana. And now you can get practice in for dealing with guy, even if he is your brother.
But have a great time reconnecting with your brother as his sister.

That is wonderful that he is understanding and accepts you. I feel happy for you. It sounds like he may not be as redneck to the core as you thought.
