Hey guys,
Do you think packing makes a difference to other people? I don't pack, but now that I am just starting to pass I'm wondering if people check there for confirmation or what. Do women check there? The last thing I want is for people to think I'm hung when there's actually nothing to hang but I don't want to out myself either. But I'd feel really weird packing. It's just not my thing.
Not really, unless you wear skinny jeans it work make much of a difference. I personally don't pack because I don't see a point since noone really looks there and I wear baggy pants.. Id pack an stp for public use though
It's there for me, not 'generic you'.
Unless you're running around in your superhero tights, I don't think anyone's going to be looking for something down there. Personally, the only time I've noticed something on a man was when it was incredibly obvious; so more than likely, the same would go for you as well. I don't think you really have to worry. As has been said, pack because you like it, or don't do it at all.
I don't pack and no one has noticed. I really don't think that people look, but even if they did, as long as you wear somewhat loose jeans they aren't gonna think anything weird if they can't see your package. The only times I've really noticed a dude's junk they were wearing really tight pants, which imo, doesn't look that good anyway haha.
Hi. I'm MTF but when I tuck, my pants fit better/different than if I don't. The difference is subtle but real none the less. Yes, I do think people look and it makes a difference.

I don't think packing really makes any difference. I only pack if I'm going out to a club or something, just incase someone makes a grab for that area, which is highly unlikely but I pack anyway. In that case it would be more for the feel of it than for the look of it.
Normally I'm just in jeans though so being un-packed doesn't make much of a difference. If I was wearing dress pants then I'd probably be more likely to pack since the material is thinner.
I don't bother usually. One of the few times I did pack was going out with a friend to a gay bar and he didn't notice a difference (and he's a compulsive crotch-scanner). If I'm wearing something really tight I do, but otherwise, meh.

But if you are MTF you are probably wearing womens jeans right? Women tend to wear much tighter jeans so it would be more noticeable in your case. Correct me if I'm just making a dumb assumption tho
I pack for me. *I* need it. I don't care if others look or not.

When i pack i feel a lot more confident so although it probably doesn't help me pass in the looks sense it definitely helps me pass in personality
I pack. When I do I see that it makes a difference. I feel different. It really is more of a personal choice though. Not too many people are going to take notice of your lack of buldge. If anything they'll feel sorry if they notice and not immediately think, "Oh my lord, it's a woman!"
I like packing but as said for me - no one else. I like that when I sit or stand my croch doesn't cave in and there's a nice bulge there. Just my preference. I think sometimes it might help those who are not sure call me 'he' but not as much as my voice, mannerisms etc. It is a confidence booster for me as well. But I have two dilemas that prevent me from packing all the time. One is I need to get a more effective harness - I am paranoid my dick is moving too much and I'll stand up and it will look like I have wood or worse no longer be in my pants! Which would cause me instant death and I'd probably never pass again wherever I was lol! And two starting T actually caused me some 'discomfort' to the area and I am unwilling to walk around 'excited' all day long!
But do I think people walk past me in the street staring at my crotch - no, its more about the WHOLE package (not the little one) making the man.

Me too. I always pack when I'm out in public, mostly for convenience (urinals). At home it's about 50/50; I try not to sleep with a packy, just because I don't want it to fall apart that much sooner. And honestly, I just like the feel/look of having something there.
I haven't had my packer for long. When i do use it, its usually for my own.. uh.. satisfaction lol. I don't always pass, so I feel a little nervous about packing because I don't want to look like a chick with a dick. Plus the packer is uncomfortable to me, and it moves around too much, even with a harness. Sometimes I'm tempted to glue it on.
BUt to answer your question. I don't know if you are gay, but I am and I tend to look at guys crotches, and FOR THE MOST PART I can never see their bulge, but it doesn't make me think they aren't a guy, it just makes me think that they are a grower rather then a sho-wer.
It makes no difference. There are many, MANY men who even when wearing tight jeans or even spandex, will not have any bulge in their crotch.
I think it would make more of a difference if it was the kind of thing you had to do for your own sanity or psychological gratification. Just like when I wear my binder. I can hide my chest pretty well without it if I've got some layers on, but it makes me more confident and comfortable.
Or if you're in a group of crotch-lookers.
Not for me. I don't pack because I'm incredibly lazy and too poor/cheap/lazy to buy a glue-on packer. I keep meaning to, and it keeps not happening due to the "I'm lazy and it's not right there for me to buy, so it's too difficult" factor. I used to pack back when I was in the is-that-a-boy-or-a-girl stage, because I thought it was important for passing. If it was then, it damn sure isn't when you get past that stage - for FTMS, anyway. As I recall from my own days wearing female skinny jeans, MTFs wearing skinny jeans (aka almost all female jeans in comparison to men's) have a bit more need for tucking. The crotch-pinching factor is a little more so there.
Perhaps if you interact very frequently with a number of gay men who are shameless about pointing out the size of other men's bulges. But if your demographic is majority anything else, and providing you don't wear skinny jeans, I've personally found it doesn't affect passing negatively.

I'll have to agree with you Chamellion. Tucking isn't optional with the tighter jeans. Packing though, I think you can choose to go either way, and it won't matter that much (provided you're not wearing pants that leave nothing to the imagination. Looser is better.). I certainly don't think you need to pack in order to pass.
.
Honestly...most guys avoid standing next to others at the urinal...you really don't have to worry about them staring at your crotch...and if they do happen to, they aren't going to say anything. I've never heard a guy comment on the lack of a bulge in another man's pants. Generally if there are comments, it's about the opposite end of the spectrum...too much of a bulge (most often in the embarassing sense, not in the 'hung' sense.)
.
Women (or gay men) would probably be more apt to notice, but again...as long as you leave enough looseness in the fabric, no one will be able to tell. The male anatomy changes quite a bit in size depending on temperature/situation. I don't think it's something people will notice unless you purposely draw attention to it by wearing a leotard a speedo or too-tight pants.
Sometimes I notice, but I'm looking *wink*. When I do notice though, it's only because it's an obvious bulge.
In all reality though, it isn't going to make any difference.
When I was growing up, mostly in high school and very early in college (before I was out) I used to tuck for my own sanity. Nobody ever seemed to notice.
I would pack, but I'm always around my mother who will without a doubt notice difference. Also, since I live at home I'd probably have to use a sock or something. Just imagining my mom walking into my room and stumbling upon a fake dick... Fun fun fun.

And sometimes you might even luck out and get pants that give you a bit of a bulge without any packing required at all. :)
It probably won't. Usually you can't see anything anyway, especially with men's pants tending to be looser.
I wear Wranglers, I ought to pack except I'm too damn lazy. But I need to get on that problem, and get an STP set up, because being able to pee standing is just too useful.
The way my pants hang, there's a bulge in 'em anyway, I dunno why but there is one. The thing is, packing means you have a bulge when sitting too.
For the gals here, look up a YouTube comedy skit about "The Tuckers, they live just like you, only tucked" it's pretty funny! Amazing how feminine a guy's lower area looks when the stuff is tucked out of sight.
I guess im the only guy here that wears skinny jeans and girl pants.
:/
But I don't wear them on my waist...
I look, and I notice bulges in some guys and some guys don't show much of anything, but most there's something there. Im an observer.
Most pants make their own bulge, but its up to you if you want to fill it out.
I personally like to pack, it makes me feel whole, and I like the little bulge it gives me. Idk.

You know, I would, and I did pretty recently. But the problem with girl pants is that my legs are more feminine than they used to be ( >:( ) and girl pants don't have pockets lol.
Where else do I keep my wallet? I'm certainly not going to use a purse (man-bag, yeah right.)
Years ago - Saturday Night Fever time- we had a guy come into the ER after falling at a club and twisting his knee. He was wearing really tight jeans and had a very pronounced bulge. He was mortified as his pants were lowered and the rolled up magazine taped to his leg was revelaed. People quietly left the cubicle to have a giggle before coming back to continue work.

Absolute gold. I work in the same sort of setting. I have seen some interesting stuff. But that ^... Gold!!! ROFLMFAO!!!
A rolled up magazine? And that was supposed to look like a er, sausage? LOL comedy gold!

Well really, I can't. I just seem to be hurting my back over and over lately and I haven't been able to work out in at least a month. Sick of it but what can you do? I just have to wait it out.

Jay, maybe try Tranzwear. It works for me.
I started packing one night a week for my gay men's group. I figured that I'm always checking out their crotches, even if I'm not attracted to the guys, so they might well be checking my crotch. It's somewhat noticeable when a guy sits down, as we do.
Anyway, I noticed that having something there made me feel...more normal, I guess. I packed two nights a week, then three, then all day, then 23.5/7.
I can't seem to stop.
I don't know if the bulge helps me to pass in a purely visual sense. But I think packing helps me to pass psychologically because it makes me feel more "normal" (for lack of a better word), more confident, more like other men. Plus, I walk a little differently. And when I give a guy a ride home and strap on the lap belt, the bulge is clearly visible.
I admit that I'll occasionally check out a guy's package. Most of the time I'm disappointed that there's nothing much to see. Darn the baggy pants trend!
I always pack and I know that it helps me pass, I have caught multiple people staring at my crotch area, especially when I go down to the city(I seem to attract gay guys even though I am straight lol) but it mostly just helps me psychologically, if I don't pack I feel and probably look visibly unbalanced.

I've noticed that, too, with my jeans. Maybe it's because mens jeans leave a little more room in that area? The way my jeans fit, that extra jean material bulges out a bit. Saw a full body picture of myself recently, and I was pleasantly surprised to see how the crotch looks full -- and fortunately, it looked like a "natural full" -- not too much of a bulge.
It's the zipper. Men's jeans (and even shorts) have a much longer zipper, and that particular part tends to pop out depending on how you sit or stand, etc. It can even make it look like you're 'aroused' even when there's nothing going on. I actually got made fun of at a summer camp once because of that :(.
Packing gives many people confidence, which can help with passing. Otherwise, packing will probably only help you pass when in the presence of perverts. Personally, I dislike having an unsightly bulge, so even if I had an actual penis, I would tuck when wearing tight pants (i.e. most of my pants).
I don't know if it helps me pass, but it helps my dysphoria greatly and feels natural and right. I feel weird and empty without it. That's enough for me! :)
For the record- women do check guys out there. Alot. They've admitted it to me. Gay guys probably do to- if not even more. :D

Now I feel like a very proper, well-mannered boy. I am NOT one of those naughty gay guys. Ha ha, just kidding, I devour the rest of the man with my eyes, but ogling genitalia just seems creepy, even though it's no worse than anything else.
I doubt anyone would ever notice.. do what feels good for yourself.
actually I have noticed that I walk better when packing, if the packer is secure. It's a more crotchy(*) walk, more masculine.
(*) crotchy is an accepted word in my personal dictionary.
Think its called strutting!!!!

If people are staring at your crotch, you might want to consider a smaller packer. ;)

I guess that's why aliens from other planets are so...crotchety. (All right, it's stupid, but give me a break; it's two a.m.)
While I haven't actually packed in public before, I've fiddled around with some homemade packers before and I've noticed that while my packers don't really show up when wearing baggy pants, I can feel it. Confidence boosting aside, it also encourages "strutting" and I noticed I was more prone to more masculine posture (like sitting with legs spread apart) when there was something there. However, I eventually came to the conclusion that if I went for a packer, it would be for a STP simply because it'd give me a "practical" reason to wear it.

Yeah but in San Fran, the guys who notice your package are exactly the guys you don't want to notice your package, particularly when you unpack it it turns out to be an empty box. Sorry, but that's life here in the big city.
For me, it definitely does, but my situation might be unique (or close to it). I'm a nursing student and we have to practice on each other. This often involves close contact and partial disrobing (mainly just to a white t-shirt and our scrub bottoms). The scrub bottoms are white and leave hardly nothing to the imagination (everyone we wear, including our underwear, must be white). It would become quite obvious to my partner(s) if I wasn't packing. So far, no mishaps have occurred.
In everyday life, I usually pack out of habit and because it feels right. On the days that I don't for whatever reason, something feels missing more than usual.
