Title: Pack and Pee issues/questions.
Post by: Cowboi on January 09, 2010, 01:04:51 PM
Okay, I have owned my mango for a couple of years now but have only really used it for packing. I decided yesterday that I should learn to ACTUALLY use it to its full potential and learn to pee standing up. This has brought up a few issues and some questions for me. I personally seem to have the problem of both overflowing/back flow and not getting it placed properly. I am aware that this takes a lot of practice for most of us but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask for some tips.

So here are my basic questions.

1. What methods did you use when learning to stand and pee (ex. of what I mean, practicing in the shower)? Did any particular method seem to work better than others?

2. How did you get yourself used to letting it flow while standing? I have had some guys tell me that they began by using it while sitting and then kind of working up from there, especially guys who used the practice in the shower method.

3. Any experience with the "mega flow" items? I think I may need one. Or any methods to help with slowing down how fast you pee?

4. And finally, placement? I cannot seem to get it to cover properly so that it won't leak, so I figured I may be holding it in the wrong place. Maybe I am not holding it tightly enough?

Also I figured it'd be a good time to throw the question out there of what do you personally use, which product or type of pack and pee has worked best for you?

Okay, first have to start by saying i use the SheWee (not in a packy yet but working on it!)

I tried the medicine spoon, no go. Too small for me and got me frustrated to the point of not wanting to even practice. GoGirl works great but can't really be converted to put in a packy (too soft and bends too easily - need two hands, which looks ODD.)

I'm working on converting the SheWee into my packy since that seems to work best. I also made an STP (that could be put in a packy) out of a turkey baster bulb. Both work best for me and still working on modifying it even more.

1) I started standing in the tub, no water running so i could feel is anything leaked. For about a week i played around with positioning - where to put it, where not to, angle it needed to be to get the flow to actually GO and not back up in the thing....

Once i got it down i practiced aiming and move to the toilet (yes, still naked). Then i added underwear, then i added sweat pants, then jeans (still working on that one, though.)

2) I've always just been able to "go" in the shower standing. But i do find that i have to relax or i won't be able to do it by a toilet. It does take a minute to get things going.

It's more of a mental barrier than physical, i think, because for so long we've been told "girls don't stand to pee" (eye roll.) Now we have to work around it....

3) Slow the stream down by practicing even when you don't stand. If it's hard for you to do, then look for a bigger receptacle and work on stopping the flow on occasion to keep from overflowing.

I also go more often than i did before - if you don't have an urgent need, then the stream is more controllable.

4) Takes practice. It's also possible the receptacle is too small. You could also take a mirror and LOOK at where you place it....  :(

I use SheWee which isn't small, but isn't as big as GoGirl. I found that the SheWee tucks right in even with my legs not spread wide and i usually only get overflow from the back (which is fixed by going slower or tilting a bit.)

I have had this problem, im sure everyone does. The trick is correct placement, and flow control.

I practiced in the shower a bit, practiced naked in front of the toilet... no clothes on= less of a mess if you miss... I pretty much got the hang of it quickly, and went to just pulling my pants and underwear down. Then just unzipping.

I just tried rly hard to hold back, in the beginning when you first let go. That way if you leak only a little comes out and you can reposition it. I always use it standing up idk how I could while sitting. Lol

Just practice, that's all I can say. Hold back, don't just let go. Control the flow, use your muscles. Once you get that down, it should help a lot.

Hmm, well thetransitionalmale has a diagram and some tips. Umm, just reach down there, spread em, push it against you far back then bring it forward. Angle it down at a 45° angle. Its all about pressure, you have to create a suction.

I use the ftm stud pack and pee, but I also have the gogirl and a medicine dropper.
I like the ftm stud best, I just need to find a way to shorten the tubing in the back, then itd be perfect. The medicine dropper is easier to clean of course and smaller to carry around. The gogirl you don't have to worry so much about positioning, and its silicone so the pee just rolls off.

Important: flow control, holding back at first, placement, pressure, angle of spoon.

Hope this helps.

1. I started with a rolled up plastic thing, then a plain medicine spoon, but it just didnt work, the only way I could get my pee into it was to hover the spoon under the pee, and that is just  risky.  Then I made my own STP with a coffee funnel. But now I have the perfect STP, I will tell you about it in the last question.

I was very used to standing and peeing, because I pee in the shower. (it washes away anyway!) and I didnt often sit to pee anyway, I usually hovered/squat.

3. I dont have mega flow so it isnt a problem.  You could practice kegals, and just try to pee slower, i dunno how to explain it, but tighten the pee muscles to make it come out slower.

4. You need to put it kinda in the middle.. i would say that you should pee in the shower, and watch where the urine comes out, then you place the spoon there.  You need to hold it firmly against the skin, but not so tight that pee will go everywhere.

I dont use a packie with mine, I prefer the simplicity of just a STP, and I dont pack anyway.  I just got a new STP it is fantastic.  Its called a travel mate.

Do the SheWee and GoGirl fit into your pocket well? I think I am going to try one of those since I don't actually pee at urinals (I always use stalls, like many of us, I have public bathroom issues) and a packer is much more comfortable without the tubes and everything attached to it. I wear jeans that aren't tight, but they fit, so I am just curious how they will end up fitting in my pocket. I mean I carry around a pack of cigarettes in my pocket no problem so I can't imagine either of these would be uncomfortable to carry around.

GoGirl is foldable (made of really soft, flexible stuff) and comes in a tube, but you can stick it in a baggie and just stuff it in lol. Again, though, need two hands to use it unless you can figure out a different way....

SheWee is solid plastic, though, and pretty big (not huge but not tiny). It'll fit in MOST pockets decently enough. I stick mine in my inside vest pocket if i'm wearing tighter jeans or sweats.

I would say GoGirl is easier to carry around, SheWee easier to use (for me.)

The gogirl fits anywhere, it comes in a very small tube and is very flexible. You can stuff it in your pants or pocket.

And you don't need two hands to use the gogirl, I can do it with one...

I never could get it to work with one hand.... maybe it's just me lol!

Well unless other guys are going to peak in the stall and tease me about using two hands to keep it under control I doubt it will be an issue. Besides, if they began watching me pee in the stall we may have other issues :P

Alright, I am going to order the GoGirl tomorrow and will let everyone know how it goes. I think the larger receptacle will work out for me. I tried the mirror to see how I was placing my mango, it really seems as if the spoon/cup end they have just isn't really large enough to cover properly and catch everything. I like the idea of something larger because I am hoping it will not only cover right but will help with some of my overflow issues, as well as the idea that if it does work easier it will help keep me out of embarrassing situations (like peeing on myself in public!).

Hopefully in about a week I will have an update to share.
