Well, a casual mention to an acquaintance here at work came to fruition, and last night I attended the first of I hope many dance classes.
Amy runs the reception desk at the Community Activity Center, manages and runs special events such as kids' soapmaking, and puts on several aerobic classes at the fitness center. I recently started attending her Monday noon Cardio Kickboxing classes.
Turns out Amy also trained as a modern dancer!
Class as fun! The only thing is I'm starting out as a COMPLETE klutz (don't worry, I know it will pass in time. :D ) Even the worst G-girls in the class showed an instinctive grace and fluidity in their movements -- or rather, they were encouraged to learn this stuff when they were little... But I see it as an opportunity to get more in touch with my body and how it moves and CAN move. My thoughts are it'll help with various aspects of passing (ref: Cindi's topic on how to walk/move.)
Plus, I hope it'll lead to me someday soon turning heads on the dancefloor ;D ;D ;D
Karen
PS, I was the only non-G-girl in class -- there were NO guys there ;)
Good for you Karen! ;D
I wish you all the very best with this. Congrats on following your dreams.
*hugs*

Congrats Karen. I've been thinking about taking some sort of dance, like tap or something, to get into shape. Only thing is, I move like a recently-woken hibernating bear. Hopefully a few lessons would smooth that up. Just haven't got it together to sign up. I'd really like to take ballroom too, but I'm kind of self-conscious about being short and being paired up with some total stranger who might resent being six inches taller than her partner.

Congratulations. Learning to dance is one of my long term goals, but I decided to wait until after SRS. I'm glad you were able to go ahead and do it.

How wonderful Karen. Dance is something that we have forgotten as a society. I love to dance. At one time I knew the major dance forms and I've always had a good sense of rythm. I do miss it very much. Brick doesn't dance. But on those rare occasions that pop up from time to time, I'll pull him out and do the jitterbug with him. He just stands there as I make it look like he's pulling me around and doing twirls, spiders, huggles, and all the stuff that makes the style look fun. It's funny how all his friends remark how well "he" dances. ;) I also do it with my kids... almost every time I visit them. It is so much fun to do something like that with them.
So Karen, you will have many opportunities. Learn to dance and have fun.
