Title: For those who sleep alone
Post by: V M on January 13, 2010, 02:45:47 AM
Do you have something you snuggle?

I have an Asian style round pillow that I hold against myself

Long purple pillow... I don't think my mom thought I'd be using the pillow for it, but its better than the dotted lines being empty.

I always want a pillow between my knees and ideally one that I can hug to my chest for shoulder support. I have a really bad back though. Unless my sleeping arrangements are perfect, after a while with a partner I'll migrate to a more comfortable position.

However, the few times that my ex and I crashed hard and woke up still entwined were... really nice.

I often have trouble getting comfortable also

The pillow tends to help when my GID gets triggered by something

Yeah... It definitely helps for some odd reason.

I knew I'd get emotional before starting all of this, but the clingyness was such a bloody surprise. ._.

Where'd that come from!?

I don't sleep alone, but even so my wife likes to hug a pillow. Just finds it comfortable and reasuring. Seems to be more common when I am out though.

I don't really snuggle anything but I have at least 3 pillows when I sleep. One between my legs to avoid back and hip pain in the morning, one under my head and one propped up on that pillow for me to rest my face against and keep it at a good angle. I kinda need my head facing a certain way for me to be able to breathe all through the night. lol

Sometimes when I'm feeling lonely, I'll get an extra pillow, or on warmer nights just scrunch up my blankets and snuggle those.

I think of sleeping with a husband when I can't sleep. My fantasy world is almost vivid as my reality, since I can honestly make myself really believe that I have one. Like it was a mental sickness.

It has nothing to do with sleeping alone but I have at least 2 pillows - one under my head and a 'boobie pillow" to snuggle up with. I call it a boobie pillow because I sleep on my side and the pillow supports whichever breast isn't on the mattress. I  slept that way even when I was married because it is comfortable (part of being a D cup).

I actually have about five pillows including a body pillow

I use one or two for head pillows to steady my neck (Got hit by a car years ago)

I just find the little round Asian pillow easiest and most comfortable to snuggle. I hold it between my boobs and against my belly

I have four pillows and two duvets and make a nest rather like a rat - and considering how cold and damp my room is, it's rather an apt simile.

A king size pillow, and my three favorite teddy bears, Teddy (56 years old), Brownie, (18 years) and the newbie (Sparky), those are in bed with me, the other 32 are lined up all over the bedroom, I say goodnight and read to them sometimes, and they are there to greet me when I wake up  ::)

I used to have my kitty, but she passed away last October  :'(

I have a five foot long cylinder pillow which is really nice to cuddle, it's called Steve, for some reason . I have woken up in the middle of the night, legs spread and Steve on top. After he's finished he just goes to sleep and I have to cuddle again. Why on earth I've ended up with a randy pillow Goddess knows. Yes, and he sleeps in the morning. Still waiting for him to bring me brekky in bed.
Damn pillows, sometimes I think they don't respect a girl at all, just want to sleep with us >:-)

Oops.  The odd one again.  (Darn!)

I like sleeping with nothing to snuggle.  If I'm alone I roam around the bed a lot during the night.  I get cramps if I stay in one position too long.  When I had a partner I had a hard time falling asleep until we were no longer touching.  Must be my Puritan upbringing or something. :P

(Or maybe I'm one of those you are referring to, Virginia.  I'm often the odd one out because of my cluelessness. ::))

I'm most similar to Kate I think, only I don't roll around at night.  I often will wake up in the same position I fell asleep in.  When I was dating, my honey and I would sleep together but I couldn't fall asleep while she was wrapped around me cause I would get too hot.  If I need something to hold, it's usually just one of my old beanie babies.  My leopard is so cuuute.  :)

I sleep on my couch because I live in the living room of a one bedroom apartment with my roommate. She has the bedroom because the living room is a little bigger. My sleeping companions are, as some of you know from my youtube videos, Theo and Eeyore. Buddy, LBF and his friend sleep above me on the couch. Here's a picture...Theo is hugging Eeyore at the end of the couch and they are sitting on two of my pillows. At night I make my bed with a blanket and with a down comforter as my sheet. I miss having a bed :(

Well, this is an updated post since my last post in this topic. I sleep alone now. I have a nice big bed, and my little black cat snuggles up, sometimes behind my pillow, sometimes down by my legs.

I'm weird, I have two normal pillows and one small square pillow. I have a habit where I wont sleep on the normal pillows, but instead I'll get right in the middle of my bed and fix my small pillow right below the two other pillows and fold it and just sleep like that. And I also have a habit of sleeping with my phone under one of my normal pillows. I have hard time going to sleep but if I don't have everything as written above I have a harder time going to sleep. I love my small pillow, it's blue with panther patterns on it. And I also can't sleep without my thick comforter and fur blanket. It don't matter how hot it is outside, I have to have them all year round. My ex use to fuss at me over it, he'd tell me that he can't see how I can sleep like that without burning up or anything. And he'll complain that all the blankets would burn him up lol.

Wow, reading this I feel so boring :D On my bed, there is exactly a sheet below me, me and a sheet above. No pillows or any other things. Sometimes my cat is lying between my legs. When I was in a relationship or having a one-night stand, it was horrible for me after sex because the other person always wanted to lie at least close to me if not snoggle and I cannot sleep if someone's touching me. So I basically didn't sleep those times.

I'm the same way. XD If I ever get into a serious relationship, we'll have to invest into two king or queen beds and push them together because I can't sleep next to someone, but it's because of the body heat and because I like to stretch out in my sleep (I take up a queen all by myself).

I'd need my own bed too, but also my own bedroom. I like to have somewhere private to retire to, and sleep to me is a pretty private thing. The presence of another person would put me off, no matter how much I loved him/her.

There's also my insomnia, which has me only just going to bed at what most people consider unholy hours, and dealing with my pre-sleep routine (making sure my hormones, inhaler, phone, a drink and whichever book I'm currently reading are all nearby) is pretty noisy, and since I take my hormones at specific times regardless of when I finally managed to sleep, my phone alarm often has to wake me up, which would also wake up a room/bedmate.

That and I move around a lot (which annoys even my cat, he'll often stalk off to sulk on the windowsill till I've settled down before coming back to poke my face with his nose to see if I react before curling up on my arm) and I breathe pretty loudly (asthma). And end up in weird, awkward positions with the blanket and dakimakura.

So it'd be a pain to share a room with me, let alone a bed, and I'm much happier having my own of both anyway.

Those are good reasons to sleep alone.  I'd handle that--but mostly because I also go to bed at random times and I move around a lot (my dog also gets annoyed by it--she huffs whenever I roll around).   I can be a pretty heavy sleeper and I talk a lot in my sleep, so I doubt anyone would want to share a room with me let alone a bed.

4-5 Pillows, Sister. Yeah, There's probably more mass in pillows on the bed than my body takes up @_@

S'only because I have a hip injury so I needs lots of padding...I guess I'll be inconvenient if I ever find a partner to be with >_>

I have two pillows and a body pillow with another body pillow on top of it. I'm always stopped up so I can't sleep flat. And then I have two pillows to "cuddle" with.

On the shifts where our sleep patterns don't merge I  always end up hugging my wife's pillow. Now its got to the stage tho where if i dont have something behind me and in front i cant sleep. Luckily its so cold at the minute that the cat has taken to snuggling in behind me- once he's stopped licking me and poddling
