And I'm very happy with the results. I did not do any bone alteration, although I may do that and a bit of nose work in the future. I had:
full facelift; full blepharoplasty, chelioplasty, lip fat grafting (fat from my neck, some was put in my lower face too), and CO2 laser resurfacing.
I consulted with two different surgeons, and actually ended up with a local surgeon here in the DC area whose approach I liked better than that of the other out-of-town surgeon I also consulted.
My surgery was Dec 11th, and I was out of work for 3 weeks (having that week between xmas and new years' off worked out perfectly), and came back to work on Jan 4th. I'm still a bit swollen, and look like I have severe windburn if I dont' wear foundation, but that has not slowed me down (if anyone asks, I say I was skiing over the holidays). Pain was minimal, and discomfort not bad. The thing that hurt the most? My left arm was apparently bent into some position during the nine hour surgery so that hurt for a couple of days. Also, sleeping propped up and only on my back for 2 and a half weeks made me glad I had an Rx for Ambien.
Finally, my acne scars are gone! I have lips! Eyes! A neck! Life is good. ;D
*tries to picture someone without lips, eyes and a neck* that would be quite uncomfortable. :P
Congrats on your FFS and a speedy, uneventful recovery. 8)
LOL, my exuberance outpaced my logic! :P
Thanks for your well wishes, Osiris!

Marvelous news! Congratulations! ~smile~
Awesome, congrats!
I was thinking of getting the face laser thing to get rid of old acne scars. I've thought about FFS, too, although I can't afford it now. I don't know what I should get done, either. o_0 I think not knowing what should be done is a big challenge for me...
Thanks Leslie and Gothique!
Gothique, I had looked into fractal laser for my acne a few years back. The local doctor who was one of the better practitioners in this area was going to charge me 5000 dollars for the treatment, and it would not have been as aggressive as a CO2 laser, but since it's not as extreme, you're able to go to work, just a bit red faced, as opposed to the CO2 treatment I had, where skin was peeling off in addition to my generally beat-up, hit-by a bus look I sported for a couple weeks after surgery. Having the facelift helped with the scars too. I think being included with other services made the CO2 laser a lot cheaper (and easier to take under general anesthesia) than the office-rendered fractal laser I mentioned.
I know what you mean about what to have done, getting a bunch of stuff done at once means everything heals at once too, something to consider. And, of course, a package deal is cheaper than having everything done separately, especially if it involves hospital fees and anesthesia fees.
outside of getting onto HRT I think that's the first place I would start is in the face.
I could think of soooo many things that would need to be changed about my face that I'd go broke just trying to fix it all :(
Me too Living, I dipped into my IRA for this. I'll probably have to work most of the rest of my life, but I was planning on dying at my desk anyway.
C'est la vie.
