Title: New start...Few questions....Help please
Post by: Aj224 on January 20, 2010, 06:48:21 PM
I have a few questions that maybe some of you could help me out with...

I cannot find a therapist in my area to help me get started...Right now I do not even have a doctor I'm working on it but its still a work in progress....I'm 20 & have been dressing, talking, and having a life much to male as I can. Now I'm ready to finally take the next step and that will be getting on T.

So my questions are...

If I cannot find a T therapist in my area...I heard there are some therapist that does over the phone, now will they be able to give me a letter to get T? Or is the only way I'm able to get it is if I go to them in person. I would normally not have a problem traveling but there is no way my truck will make it much out of my town! So I'm stuck in that problem.

Another question...

(When) could I change my sex on my D.L to Male?
and when am I able to change my name to a male's name?

I would love all the help I could get....Thanks guys

There are therapists on-line that are recommended here.  Nero uses one, but the name escapes me.

As to the D/L.  Check with the local DMV.  Your state may have laws regarding changes in name and gender.

I was also going to recommend the online therapist. You may be able to do a search here on online therapy and find a thread where Nero gives the persons name. That way all you need is an Internet connection and I think the fees were very reasonable. His letters are excepted , I believe , for T and top surgery. Same thing Janet said on DL check with your state they all vary.

You can find the online therapist Nero uses here- http://www.gendertherapist.com/ (http://www.gendertherapist.com/) His name is Dr. Peveller.

An online therapist could definitely work (like the one suggested).  But the therapist you see doesn't have to be a gender therapist although it's recommended.  A psychiatrist would work as well.  Are there no therapists in your area or just no gender therapists?

When you can change your gender marker on your DL depends on the state you live in.  Mine only requires a letter from a physician stating that "irreversible changes" have taken place.  Other states require surgery.  Like Janet said, check with your local DMV.

You can change your name whenever you want. :)
