I'm going in for a physical on Tuesday and then I will start therapy. How much does it usually cost for testosterone treatment?
Depends~. Mine's 40$ with insurance.
I dunno about prices but I do think CONGRATULATIONS are in order :) good luck too!
I pay $125 for a 5 month supply, my insurance doesn't cover it and I do IM injections.
I pay $56USD for my shots, needles included. That lasts me about 5 months. I still haven't gotten the bill for the appointment and the blood work that was done though, but the first appointment was covered by my insurance (or so I was told).
I right now pay $90 for five months from Kmart. People I tell about this think I am paying too much. If you purchase T can you include price and where you get.
walgreens, $30, 5 month supply
that is my copayment with insurance
Mine is from Strohecker's Pharmacy (see post below). I agree that $90 is a little high for a five month supply of T. Either go with Strohecker's (a lot of guys use it) or check around at another local pharmacy. You can just call and ask for a price. If you have insurance, be sure to ask if they'll take that as well.
I called every local pharmacy and that was the cheapestprice. I called stroheckers a few times and never got an answer.
That's odd. Every time I've called, they've answered and gotten back to me very promptly. There was a slight mix-up about payment, but they sent my T express (for no extra charge) so I have no complaints. In case you (or anyone else) want to try calling them again, here's their number and times:
(503) 222-4822
Hours (Pacific time):
Monday thru Friday 9:30 - 6:30
Saturday 9:00 - 3:00
Well I will give them a call when i need a refill.
I would like to see some sans-insurance data. I've got no job at the moment and might start T very soon.. Data would help me in this.
Be mindful that Strohecker's can't ship to all U.S. states. I know they can't ship to North Carolina.
Edit:
Strohecker's can't ship to Arizona, Tennessee, Virginia or North Carolina. Here's why...
"In order to ship medications out-of-state, most state boards of pharmacy require the pharmacy to be licensed in the states they ship to. Strohecker's is licensed, or is in the process of getting a license, in all the states we ship to.
However, the licensing requirements for out-of-state pharmacies vary from state to state, and can change every year. Some states require certain types of documentation, and the cost of providing that documentation outweighs the number of prescriptions that we mail to patients in those states. So, we have decided to cease shipping to patients in certain states, rather than getting licensed."
Alright well I live in Ohio so I guess I am good.
No insurance here, and my prescription discount card, while good for everything else, doesn't cover testosterone. That said, mine is $60 for a 10 ml vial, which lasts me roughly four months. That's at Costco... I'm not a member, either. Any Costco with a pharmacy will allow you to use their pharmacy regardless of whether or not you're a member. It's the best price I've found anywhere.
SD
i live in ohio (northeast ohio) and use the apothecary shop to get my rx. the pharmacist is great and the price is $40 or $50, i think they charge less for shipping in ohio as opposed to out of state. this used to last 4 months or so when i was on a full dose but i cut it down to half of what i used to be taking so i assume it'll be an 8 month supply now. i highly recommend the apothecary shop.

Thanks for that. I've thought about moving to NC in the future, and if that stays the same, it's something to think about. Not that my decision would be solely based on a pharmacy. :P

That said I have no problems getting my T from Wal-Mart (insurance covers it). I know Costco carries it too. Forget the Rite Aids- they won't fill it or order it around here. They suck. >:( Any idea where in NC you're looking at?

Asheville or somewhere close to there. The only way I'd move there though would be if my current partner and I got engaged or married (or whatever we decided to call it, legal or not). She works at NOC during the summer and plans to move up there after she graduates. Do you live in NC?
I also get mine through Stoheckers, none is covered by insurance, and I pay $56 for everythign 4 months supply.

Thank you all for your price quotes!
I would love to know when I called the apothecary they gave me a quote of 116 for five months. And stroheckers when I would call never answered. I am a bit confused.
Are you talking about the Apothecary Shop? I heard their prices were good, but I wasn't sure if they did orders for the whole US. But if it's 116 for five months, they can forget about it lol.
$116 is the quote i got from the apothecary shop for a 5 month supply but many guys are telling me they got quotes of a lot less from them for the same thing. And stroheckers i called numerous times and no one ever answered.
That really sucks, man. It sounds like that people you're talking to (or not talking to) are not with the program. Maybe the prices went up? :-\
Who knows. Its just my luck. I ended up paying 90 at kmart for my 5 month supply.

I've heard Asheville has a good trans community with good resources. Yes, I live in NC.

The price could be dependent on what formulation you are using (Androgel, Test. Cypionate, Test Enanthate, Sustanon ...) and at what dose. For example, I take about half the dose that most of the guys here take, so obviously a 10ml vial is going to last me longer than it would most of the others.
I was getting a 1ml vial for a $10 co-pay at Walmart, plus the cost of needles. I switched to Strohecker's because I could get the 10ml vial
and needles for $56 and not have to deal with the funny looks the Walmart technicians kept giving me. ::) Using insurance was actually costing me more than going without, in this case.
approx 40 us dollars a month, Testogel, in Iceland.. (single payer insurance system which is taking 20% of the cost off the top on this, it takes 75% of the cost of my painkillers on the other hand.... )
!!!!!! So I just had my physical. I should be able to start T by mid March!!! And it'll cost me $50.00 for half a year w/o insurance!!!

Congratz! Mind if I ask where you are getting your T from?
I emailed Strohecker's and never got a response.
I guess that I should try again.
My insurance considers testosterone gel to be a "Nonpreferred brand-name medications (Tier 3 Medications)" and has a $40 co-pay per month.
I'm just taking a teeny-tiny, lady-like dose of T-gel.

I'm in boston and I'm going to the Sydney Borum Community health center.... I will get the prescription from the doctor who gets it half price from some place in oregon.... thats all I know
Walmart should be able to order you 10ML vials.
you have to talk with your pharmacist there.
give them NDC number and name of T vial.

I have a quick question--
Those of you that go through Stroheckers, how do you handle payment? I've looked on their website and it gives you the protocol for submitting your prescription but there's nothing about paying. Would they proceed to get in touch with you, or you with them, and take your details (card number, etc) ... Or?
Second question--
I know it would depend on your dosage, but how long after starting T was cessation of menses? That is one of the things that I am greatly looking forward to. I'm also curious if it also depends on where you are on your cycle when you start or what. So any info on your experiences would be awesome.
@Revel:
This is how it went for me my first time ordering with Strohecker's. I called them up to ask what all they needed from me besides my prescription (I was mailing it in). The lady said I needed to include: my name (the name on the prescription), my mailing address, date of birth, my phone number, the prescribing physician, the doc's phone number, and any known allergies.
The next day I mailed it in and a couple days later she called me back to confirm. She also called my endo to confirm the prescription. About 20 minutes later, I got another call and we talked about needle sizes and which ones I wanted. At this point, you should set up payment (we didn't, it was a mix up, but was fixed).
I gave them my debit card info over the phone. I'm not sure what other forms of payment they take. Got my T in a few days later. :)
As for your second question, I started T in December and that time came and went mostly normal. It was lighter and seemed to last longer than usual (a week versus 4-5 days). I'm thinking it'll be another month or two and it'll be gone.
When I started T my red tide completely stopped. I was started on a very low dose and was there for awhile. Later we gradually increased the dosage and still no return. I don't know if it was just the T, but each person has different experiences. If it dosn't stop right away that's normal.
I mailed my prescription to Strohecker's and they called me when they got it.
As for the monthly visitor - I had a regular flow a few days after starting T, and a little bit of spotting for a day or two the next month, and nothing since. For the record, I have been on 1/2 the usual dose the entire time.
