"Be wary of homogeneity" is one of several compelling messages in "The Be(A)st of Taylor Mac," a solo show performed more than 200 times in four years by this protean theater artist.
Both playwright and actor, Mac sings his original songs in an emotionally expressive and supple tenor while capably strumming the ukelele. He jokingly dubs this play "a subversive jukebox musical."
It's neither, unless you consider drag subversive.
