Title: Using proxies to access this site.
Post by: Susan on February 01, 2010, 03:33:15 AM
Using third party services, unsecure relays, or open proxies to access this web site is not permitted. This includes Tor and other anonymizing services. We will ban proxy hosts once they are discovered.

Well my connection is forced through a proxy as I use a Mobile Dongle for my internet. IS this a problem?

I think it will only really come into play if you are a habitual rule breaker and we ban you, but you come back through a proxy. At that point we do a little digging and ban the proxy.

I don't think we are going to be purposefully hunting for them. You should be sweet (unless we ban your proxy because of someone else, if that happens best to email susan and we will sort you out)

Seems a bit lazy to treat all proxy users as evil, I sometimes need to use proxies when my connection is playing up it's not my fault. I consider myself to be a nice enough person so if I got banned for it I'd probably walk away on principle.

You should read my above post. If you behave nobody is going to know if you are using a proxy or not so it really should not be an issue.

(if you got banned for it you won't be able to get back anyway ;))

We are talking about people who are using proxies to hide their location.  Using a legitimate server or proxy will not cause you to be banned.  And if you are not being disturbance or obnoxious, you will be fine.

And I don't think our Muffin has any worries,.

Quick question: it appears this was also applied to Chat?

Tried to start up through web-irc.org and received an autokill.

It's been applied to chat a long time before the forums, proxys and systems infected with spam sending malware aren't allowed for network safety reasons. This can include non direct connections.

Stopping your proxy server has not prevented you from coming to Chat No_Id, you have access using your other address.

Thanks for the replies folk, I see the proxy settings were changed recently. Explains why web-irc bounces nowdays;
Quote-irc.susans.org- *** You are not welcome on this network.
-irc.susans.org- *** Autokilled for Proxy service ip range (2010/02/05 15.03)

SL: I tend to use web-irc at work due to firewall settings, mirc at home - hence the different addresses (there's even a third one on the forums: my mobile internet).
