Title: One step closer
Post by: Laura823 on February 06, 2010, 09:15:50 AM
I have been putting off transitioning (RLE) because of my concern of how the Railroad Retirement Board would treat my spouse.  In other words would she lose any claim to my benefits.  Today I took that step and contacted an attorney.

While this may seem minor to many, it is a great day for me

Congratulations on moving one step closer! While I am not an attorney, I'm sure you can still make your transition and keep benefits in place. I hope you are able to work something out.

Congratulations, Laura!  Actually, you might just call the Railroad Board, but working through an attorney could help.

A hard lesson for me in the beginning was that transition wasn't going to happen without me pulling the levers and pushing the buttons.  I'm glad for you that you've pulled a lever to help you move on. :)
