As you will find, i'm a bit of an animal freak and amongst my very minature zoo (intends to grow) i own a corn snake.
But seriously!!
I went to feed Dimitri, my corn, and when i feed him i put the food on a tray to stop him eating his bedding and getting impacted... which can cause constipation. But anyways... there he was, tossing his meal about like a savage beast and in his excitement he ended up on his aspen (his bedding). So i thought i'd move him while he had his jaws around his meal... i've done it before and he's never minded >_> and there he went, more excited than normal he began to constrict the mouse (not very often i see him do that) and my fingers at the same time!! Problem is... once they get hold of something thats it... they wont let go!
So I figured cos he's only still a baby and not very strong i'd try and move him >_> didn't work. He started striking at me and tightening around my fingers even more lol So i ended up with my fingers rested in the tank for 5 mins while he continued to devour his meal, keeping my fingers well in grasp. I started to stroke his body and thats when he decided to loosen up and i got my fingers back. lol
I'm so releived his still a baby, otherwise i'd have no fingers left to type it all up and tell you my story! lol

I'm so proud of my baby ;D
Oh geeze. I got a whole new level of respect for you wishy..
I;ve had more than my fair share of encounters with rattle snakes, copper heads and various other non poisenious snakes and i do not LIKEM one bit! there was a guy this summer running around looking for snakes and he was like petting one coming towards me with it i was like dude no offense man but I am gonna pee myself if you get any closer..I said half laughing i like sankes that are far away from me..
Wow, well cool though if its a thing and you like them no problem?
I wonder how would cats and dogs interact if you had a pet snake>>
Do people have pet bats? wishy did you see in a post i typed somewhere (me in my blondness i lost track) i hit a bat wednesday night playing tennis it had swooped down at the ball and as i swung an over head to smash it i clipped the bat.. Not a trauma for me but would not have done it on purpose! One night this summer there were like dozens of praying mantis on the courts we had to literally stop play to chase them off so we would not kill one.
One question how does it work as a pet? do they actually show any type of respect or emotion or feeling for you? Like a dog or cat would????

Wow, he is a good-looking fellow.
QuoteI went to feed Dimitri
LOL...I know of another growing snake named Dimitri..LOL...yeah, they are usually very hungry and constrict you whenever they can...
Do you feed him mice also? Maybe he is too small to eat mice, huh?
Thank you for sharing the photos. He is cute!

That wasn't me lol >_> I would never intentionally hurt any animal... unless it's a fly or midge or something lol Nah, i'm much the devoted animal lover and i adore everything that moves! And how does it work as a pet? hmm... well... since he tried to kill my fingers last night, i doubt there's much respect there for me lol But i have respect in him. He is an awsome pet, quite an amusing personality and i think being there to watch him grow and develop is really something amazing.

He is on small baby mice for now... but he's growing so fast!!! I'm going to try him on fuzzies soon (small baby mice thats just started to grow fur) the next size up basicly. Last time i measured him (when he last shed) he was at 1ft 1/2 ^_^
Someone I was once friends with had a really beautiful ball python, she was probably close to 4' in length and when I stopped over she plopped her head into my lap and I stroked her head. :) He did say that she bit him once when he did not get his hand out quick enough after dropping in food. She realised the mistake right away and backed off.
Your snake is a cutey, hope to see more pictures down the road sometime.
Cool snake wishy. Fortunately I'm not squeamish about things like that. I have had pet snakes when I was younger and I'll even handle some non-poisonous spider. That really freaks people out.

Very cool post Wishy! :)
I like snakes. I had a python for a few years but had to give him away when I needed to move.
Nice pics too. Thank you for sharing!
*hugs*

i wont even begin to bother to start on the kind of other pets i want in the future lol ^_^
but i love everything! I've never handled a spider, but i hope to own one one day ^_^
And glad you enjoyed ^_^ He's my baby, him and my chinese water dragon, they my babies
I hope you're not planning on a scorpion. I will not touch one of those. I found a nest of them in the wild once and that freaked me out so bad.

maybe one day ^_^ lol if i can find someone who'll take the sting out successfully, then no problem... but i'd hate to have somthing like that knowing it could get the better hand on me lol
I really want a Chameleon, but they're a bit more difficult to take care of, with mixing powder in their food and all. :(
I agree, that's a cute little snake. :D Maybe when I move out I'll get a little corn snake or something similar. ^_^;
And no, snakes often can eat things much bigger than their heads, since they have 3 jaw bones, compared to our 2 (upper and lower for humans, one upper and two lower for snakes).
I went out on my porch tonight. I noticed an odd lump on the cream colored siding. It was a frog. I've seen them many times before around here but they are always regular frog colored. I went out a bit later and the little frog had moved over on the porch seat which is a dark brown color. And the frog had turned brown! Now, how does a little frog know what color something is when there is no light to reflect the color? It's almost pitch black out there. I have chameleon frogs!

As far as I know, chameleons don't only change colors to suit their background. I read somewhere that some species can change colors when "their moods" are triggered by light or movement....or who knows...maybe he was trying to change into the color he could only see, pitch black. ;)

I love the snake, Wishy!
I used to work in a pet shop. Snakes are one of my fave. When I get out to Manitoba, I'm gonna have a whole menagerie, man. Horses, lizards, snakes, and ferrets! Yeah!
Frogs have incredible night vision. :) It's part of how they adapted to their environment...
And yes, chameleons change color depending on their moods, temperature, stress, and, obviously, for camoflage. ^_^;
If you're afraid of bees, then stay away from the Japanese Giant Hornet. @__@
Last night I just got a ball python, so now I have a snake too. ;D I'llpost pics later and I have yet to name him (or her ???).
