Title: LGBT Questionnaire
Post by: shitface on February 12, 2010, 02:40:59 PM
Hi Guys I am a 4th student in Waterford Institute of Technology.  As my final year thesis I have chosen to carry out a study looking to examine the dynamics and qualities of parental social support from the perspective of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals to see if it affects their sexual behaviour.

I ask of all you LGBT people out there to give me a dig out by taking 10 minutes out of your day to answer the questionnaire and pass it on to friends, family, co-workers, associates etc.

Much appreciated

Why only Ireland?

I would imagine because social conditions vary so much from nation to nation, and even within a nation.  A survey done in SF would have much different results I bet then one done in say Pine Apple, Mississippi.

HI

Thanks for the inquiry.  Sorry about it being only from Ireland....I am completing it as part of my finals in university and to do it international would be too much for an undergrad study.  Maybe you never know I could get funding from this :) and take it on as a bigger project.

In San Fran there was a study into family rejection as a predictor of health effects Jan 09.  So they are being carried out else where.

Hope this answers your question.  ;)

smiley, it does and thanks for the reply.

Tekla, I guess I think in order for it to be valid, it would have to cover more territory but I can see separating data by area so that makes sense.

Thats no problem.

What tends to happen is one country, state, county which ever will complete research for their own areas and then they compare it to research completed in other countries if there is a need of course.

Best of luck anyway.  ;)

Well assuming it's attempting to be some sort of valid survey, then it needs a valid statical base.  That number for Ireland is a hella lot smaller then for the world as a whole.

Ah yeah Ireland is small but I mean if your measuring things to change things within your own country you don't need to include the rest of the world.  Plus cultures and attitutes are very different.

Any way its only an under grad so Im not quite ready to take on the world just yet ha :D ;) :)

Aww come on now, only an undergrad would try to explain the whole world.  We used to joke that the difference between an undergrad and a grad student is that the undergrad can explain the entire universe in five pages, while the graduate student needs fifteen pages just for the introduction on their paper on a blade of grass.

Good luck at any rate.
