Title: I feel like I'm cross-dressing...
Post by: placeholdername on February 18, 2010, 08:37:00 PM
I'm behind on laundry so I ran out of the girl's jeans that I usually wear (for the past year anyway), so I had to put on a pair of guy-pants, and I feel gross.  What's funny is that this pair was one I used to avoid wearing before last year because they were less baggy than my other ones, and I thought it made me look more feminine or something, which I was trying to avoid then (or I wasn't ready to admit that I didn't want to avoid that, triple negative!).

So yeah, I'm still waiting on the laundry because it's in use by one of my other house mates or something, sigh.  This is surprisingly unsettling.

I can totally understand how you feel.  I kept a couple of old shirts that I really liked, but OMG does it feel weird to put them on.  Absolutely no style or fit.  How can guys wear that stuff.

I plan on cutting up my t-shirts and sowing them into some obscene t-shirt logo quilt dress monstrosity of some sort.

Ha, know the feeling.
Sometimes I wear an old, but very clean shirt as a nightie. snuggle up to Steve, (my randy pillow) who complains about me using his shirts as nighties, and argues that the Guys will notice my perfume!!

Godess I have an active imagination.

You can just cut out squares from the front/back, sew them into a tube and wear it as a tube dress.  Straps are relatively easy to add...

Recently I found a dress in my closet. Haven't worn anything actually feminine in a while so I tried it on.

It was weird.

I have no problem wearing my old guy stuff.  I wear men's jeans to work simply for the giant pockets they have.   I also like wearing my old button-down shirts (which are huge) under a sweater (which gives me back my feminine shape).  I've rediscovered how fun it is to wear ties too.  Do I feel like I'm cross-dressing?  Not really.

Ties are cool, I had some friends (girls) in my creative writing courses who would wear ties with their girls' clothes sometimes.  Then again, they had a thing for cross-dressing as guys for laughs occasionally :P.

I think it would be one thing if I wore guys' jeans with like fitted t-shirt or something, but guys' jeans + guys' t-shirt is ick.  Also, I'm pretty sure I was buying all my guys' pants too big to begin with, and I'm pretty sure I've shrunk in the waist in the past year, despite not being on hormones at all.  Net result: walking around in a leg-shaped potato sack :P.

That's why I wore mens' slacks at work for the longest time. My therapist, the few times we talked, didn't understand that. No, they don't let me carry a purse at work, and even if I had one it's just *EASIER* to pull stuff out of a pocket.

And then, because I kept my wallet, keys, and phone in my pockets, I started having nerve problems in my thighs and had to stop. Now I keep my keys and wallet in my coat in the break room and carry my phone in a back pocket or a suit pocket. I've gotta go full time before the weather turns much warmer, or I won't have a coat to hang my spare stuff in :p

Ties on girls are so hot, I only discovered ties last December. Learned to tie one, shamed all my male coworkers, laughed. I should get a skinny one.

I have issues wearing more than 1 article of male clothing. Lucky for me the 'boyfriend look' is In, as I have a ton of guy stuff still. (I am a packrat and I have to find a use for everything) But if it's just 1 piece of guy stuff I have few issues. My girlfriends stole my clothes for years. The cisgirls have set a precident that we can wear certain amount of guy stuff and still be considered girly.

I got rid of most of my male clothes the day I started full time but kept a few things for slobbing around.  (And some ties because they can be cool.)  I was surprised at how quickly the very idea of putting on male clothing became repugnant to me. :icon_blah:

For me, I don't want to go back to my guy slacks because they don't flatter my ass AT ALL. :p

I have no problems incorporating guy clothes into an outfit.  I'm not as opposed to it as I was before because I can't really pass for a guy anyway now so it doesn't matter what I wear.
