Inconvenient for Some but True

British journalist John Ozimek, 52, wants to be a woman. Cohabiting with partner Andrea Fletcher, he has a 16 year old daughter from a previous heterosexual relationship and a five year old son, Rafe, by Ms Fletcher.

In early 2010 he announced to Andrea: "I'm not really a man."

There are plenty of issues around the question of 'transgender' but let's consider two relating to this case. The first is how John Ozimek experiences and responds to his identity problem. The second is how transgendered people expect others to respond.

How many times have "late blooming" trans women people "diagnosed" by arm chair psychiatrists as suffering from andropause?

And of course they completely ignore the trans men who transition late in life after having a hetero relationship and being mothers.  They do not call them out as suffering from menopause, if the even mention them at all...

I'm trying to come up with a descriptive adjective that adequately describes their lack of training, umderstanding and compassion, but I am failing miserably.
