Title: Wig Care
Post by: Sally7414 on February 27, 2010, 11:52:36 AM
Hi,

I just got my first wig. I was wondering what are some good ways of care for them and how to style them.

Thanks,
Sally

Depends on what the wig is made with.  If it is synthetic, use only products made for wigs.  I use Revlon Texturing Cleaner and Conditioner.  Never use a curling iron, just hot rollers.

If it is human hair, use only gentle shampoos and conditioner.

Brush it out before washing and follow the directions on the bottle.

"Wig+Care" in a GIS got me 1/2 a million hits.

The one at e-How seemed like a starting point.

Best advice for learning wig care I can give.  If you feel comfortable, stop in a wig shop.  I would not recommend Chic Wigs, but that's because my experiences there have been less than stellar.  Check some of the "non-big name" places and take in the wig.  Ask them how to best take care of it and they will be more than willing to help ya out.

Laters :)

any online store you would recommend for those of us not brave enough to visit a wig shop?
