Possibly officer Nash doesn't know the difference between "protect and serve" and Rape and Pillage...

Disgusting abuse of position of authority

Sounds like they need the same training that they are getting in Colorado Springs.  Talk about not being PC.

my standard response to all rapists is capital punishment. >:)
(too bad the state of CA won't carry out the suitable punishment for the crime)

Becoming as bad as your enemy is hardly going to make the world a better place.  An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind as Mahatma Gandhi allegedly said. We already have a prison-industrial complex that has more of our citizens (as a percentage of population) than any other industrial nation - including the police states and dictatorships.  We execute more people than anyone except China.  Most civilized nations gave up capitol punishment over half a century or more.  So you would think that with more people in jail, and more people getting executed we'd have our crime problem under control.  Yet, that is hardly the case.  So perhaps that is not the solution.

Moreover - and I do not say this lightly, for indeed it's a damning incitement for all of us - but... I do not feel the state of California is anywhere near capable of fairly and competently providing for a decent, equal, and fair capitol case at this time (and into the conceivable future).  I would not trust the results.  Hell, I don't think they could competently run a toaster oven at this point.

And, since it is a democracy and all, and one citizen has no right to ask of another what they are unwilling to do, I assume Flan that you're down with taking the gun and walking in there and executing the people/person?  And, after you do that, and you walk out - will you be any different at that moment from the person you just killed?

his rights end when he violated her (the prisoners) rights

Nope, that's when his rights begin, because in that action, that's also when his power was taken from him.  Rights are not for the powerful and the popular, they exist for the powerless and the unpopular.  The powerful don't need rights, that's what they have privilege for.  Rights are only needed when no privilege exists.

I'm with flan on the rapists should have no rights...

I think death is too good for them though, throw them in prison and let it be known there a rapist... tattoo a big fat R on there foreheads and see how long they last... I hope he gets what's coming in the end.... And yes the pun was intended.

That is, sadly, one of the more silly emotives to come out of the Republicans and their ilk lately.

As tekla says, rights begin not end.

The point of rights is to protect each of us from the authorities. We must have people running things. We need to have set limits on what they can do.

Rights must be universal, or they are not rights at all, they are priveleges.

Let's kill all the rapists!  Yeah!  Statutory rapists too!  Of course that might well be some kid who turned 18 before his GF did, and her dad is pissed at him, her or both and filed charges, but hey, you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs right?

Hell, while we're at it, since there is absolutely no evidence that any sex criminal ever gets 'rehabilitated' (and there isn't) let's kill all of them too.  I say good riddance. After all, I fail to see how rape is any less traumatic for the victim than sexual child abuse, or in those states where it's still against the law to 'engage in unnatural actions' (which translates basically to making all sex illegal except between two people who are married to each other, and it better be good old fashioned man on top, women thinking let's get this over with quick sex, no mouth to genital contact, no sticking it anywhere but the vagina, and damn sure none of those sex toys, them is tools of the devil I tell you), use a dildo, get the chair!  After all, once you try oral sex you never go back.  You're a habitual offender, three strikes and all.  Bye.

That there are quite a few people who consider most of the sex that most of the people posting on this board to be 'unnatural' - well, it's better to be safe than sorry, really, think of the kids.

And once you start down that road you don't know where it will end - though history teaches us pretty consistently that humans once started, tend to excess.

AND, I still want my point addressed!  I've got a government that can't balance a budget, can't make policy, can't control itself, and has a tendency to elect bad actors every couple of decades.  And you want to give them the power over life and death?  Before you give them a bottle of whiskey, a loaded gun and the keys to the car, don't you think they should demonstrate they can be responsible for a bicycle.

I'm sorry, but it seems like a really stupid level of misplaced trust.  Isn't the criminal/judicial system that you want to give this power to, the same fricking criminal/judicial that hired this moron, armed him, and then turned him lose?

the better option for kiddies who hump is public shame. :P
btw, when I mean rapist, I mean the violence/control based crime, not benign actions that don't harm others or self.

I'm opposed to the death penalty for any person for any reason simply because I don't think the government should ever decide who lives or who dies.

I'm not a big fan of the death penalty either... Although some folks do make it tempting

Oh... Um... Kat... I have a date with destiny tonight... Can I have a bottle of whiskey, a loaded gun and the keys to the car?  >:-)
