Microsoft announced that for the first time ever, Xbox Live members will be able to communicate about their sexual orientation, race, or religion in their gamertags and profiles.

A feedback of the service's community has been collected, which has resulted in this update in Xbox live, according to Xbox Live General Manager Marc Whitten. While expressing one's personal information, one can use the words like, "lesbian", "gay", "bi", "transgender" and "straight", either in a username or profile.
