Title: Dietary needs for a couple going oppisite directions?
Post by: Sevan on March 20, 2010, 01:19:21 PM
Hi all!
My honey is MtF and on spiro so we try to watch the potasium.
I'm FtA (Female to Androgyn) and on T.

I figured I was getting enough potasium because I eat veggis (like broccli) that she doesn't eat and I'm on a suppliment that has ample potasium so I thought I was good. I've started to have some twitching in some of my muscles and have gotten a few cramps in the last few days which makes me wonder if maybe I'm not getting as much as I think? Or are the two probably unrelated and I'm worried about nothing?

The twitch was last night in my hand of all silly things. The cramp was in my hamstring after working out. I went to start stretching my quads and my hamstring just...freaked out! Ouch.

Thoughts? Thanks!

sodium and fluid intake? (if electrolytes are off that might cause cramps)

then again i'm going off top of head... :|

Yes, make sure you're getting enough salt. I get hand muscle twitches (and other strange places) sometimes, usually coinciding with a salt craving, and feeding the salt craving usually fixes the twitch too.

I've definitly been upping my salt which is weird for me because while I like salty things, I rarely put salt ON anything...but I've been finding myself doing just that recently. So maybe I need to pay closer attention to that.

Same with electrolyts. I was thinking the other day "oh gosh I want some gatorade!" So I'll try that too. Thanks :)
