Mine was to create barbiedoll clothing out of toilet tissue using markets and water!
DINOSAURS.
I was obsessed with dinosaurs, and anything related to dinosaurs.
Wolves. Still love 'em.
I think I had a lot of phases... The one I remember most clearly: Star Wars. I was five when Phantom Menace came out, I'd never even heard of Star Wars before, but for some reason, as soon as I heard about the movie I was hell-bent on going to see it. It was the first movie I ever saw in theatre, and I loved it. My mom made me this Anakin costume for Halloween that I would've worn every day if she'd let me.
I'm still kinda obsessed with Star Wars... 8)
Ooh, and horses. I was totally horse obsessed, it was probably my most feminine feature as a kid.
LEGO and Micronauts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micronauts).
Dragons. Still obsessed.

Haha, I went straight from dinosaurs into dragons... They're like SMART dinosaurs with wings!

Haha, I used to watch that everyday too.
X3
Yeah, I guess my grandmother used to call up to see if I wanted to come over and see her, and I'd say no, i'm watching Scooby Doo. Lol thats horrible
Toys I could stack.
Cartoons (they were better when I was growing up than they are now, or I'd still be watching cartoons.)
Anatomy of various species.
Also played a lot of video games. Pokemon, I memorized all of it most likely.
Well Star Wars was an obsession or a fantasy as a child. But since I saw a Tie Fighter in Lismore, New South Wales it became too real for me. I always believed that maybe the Movie could be an inspiration to make the real thing.
Have You Americans made Tie Fighters for real or was I hallucinating or something?
Because Im sure its only a movie in this part of the Galaxy!
My other obssesion was playing with my sisters dolls. Boy would they get angry when they found I had been playing with their Barbie dolls.

Heh, I can relate. I recently had this phase of thinking I wanted to be a pilot- this was abruptly brought to an end when in a moment of clarity I realized that what I really want is to fly Star Wars or Firefly style spaceships, and aeroplanes would be totally dissatisfying... *Sigh* ::)
Thanks for relating. It would be a dream to fly a Star Wars ship. And Firefly is pretty cool too.
My obsession was getting friends because I didn't have any....it was a secret obsession. Legos, so I could build and pretend to have the things my parents couldn't afford. Drawing, so I could dream of a better life.
At seven I declared I wanted to be an adult. I was focused on surviving, and being a child was too dependent, and unproductive. I did read adventure novels - Admiral Hornblower was my hero.

^ Yeah, this. Legos were a great way to have, at least for a while, that which I didn't.
Sssssssssssssnakes.
I have always been a person of many hobbyhorses, when I was younger it was birds, I was obsessed with birds, then hand puppets until I was 17 - I've always been in plays and written stories also.
Legos here too. And remembering how much my dad hated me when I forget to get that stray lego off the floor before he stepped on it. ;D
Someone brought up drawing. Same here, I still do it, but it's lost a bit of it's magic atm.
Would draw myself as a heroic guy all the time. And I'd make up all these stories in my head and draw some of it out.
COWBOYS.
Gennee
thinking back mine was space, star trek, star wars, buck rogers, battlestar gallactica the original. Then there was the transformers, star blazers, robotech for the cartoons, and toys.

I still do this all the time... Draw myself as these characters in stories I make up. I am almost always a guy, and if not, a girl who dresses/acts as a guy, in these. Considering that drawing is probably the one thing I express myself most openly in, I'd say this says quite a lot.
Home-made weapons, knives, and armor.
Dungeons and dragons (still my main obsession), I guess the first is related to the second.
Barbarians, as in conan the barbarian.
building forts and rafts.
skateboarding.
Teddy bears and other soft toys (I had a softer side ;))

Yesss. I still play D&D and other games with the group I joined in high school.
I was always obsessed with mermaids as a child. I've heard that alot of transgender women are obsessed with mermaids as children.
Still not grown out of that 'animals' phase yet! ;D

Well, IIRC TIE means 'twin ion engine' and NASA has made several things with ion engines now, so maybe.....
I was a bit Star Wars obsessed when I was young too, though once the new movies came out it ruined it for me. Aside from that I was obsessed with anything dark or anything cute, which seems strange but, pink kittens are skulls were held in equal esteem.
I had this little handheld tape recorder and would steal my sibling's tapes so I could record on them. I'd do things like my own versions of "On top of old smokey" or tried to be a comedian. I'm still obsessed with recording things :P
Have You Americans made Tie Fighters for real
Well they did at ILM, they didn't really fly on ion engines, but they were full scale.

"Attention Shoppers [read security] - bender in the gender dept" ???
Obsession?
Playing Barbie dressup with 'lil sister and girl next door (rather than G.I. Joe)?
My imaginary friends. No one could play hide & seek like I did. 8)
I had a few phases. My hobby horse was the first I can remember...I had it until I completely outgrew it. around 11 I guess. (I was a big kid). I also had Barbies. I gave them up at about 14 yrs, to my 5 yr old sister. I thought it was the mature thing to do. lol otherwise I'd still have them. Then it was my music, writing and the everexpanding record collection, most of which I still have.

hmm, cleaning? lol, I cleaned a lot.. still do actually... always cheers me up for some reason o.O
Lions! >:-) Rawrrr...this also lead to my obsession of the lion king movies ;D But I used to practise running like a lion all thought the house.
Building forts
climbing everything
catching pets at the river (and then freaking out my mom with them)
riding bikes
legos
Slot cars/ building tracks that spread across the whole house
Horses (I worked on a farm and competed for 10 years)
reading
Putting things back together. Everyone takes things apart, I was not happy till I put it back together and it worked. I was also obsessed with taking things that did not work and making them work. Some might think that's a boy deal, but me, I just thought it was honoring the workers who put it together. Odd, now I work on vintage Marshall amps and vintage guitars. Weird eh?
Legos, then later knex [things are freaking amazing, by the way]
and animals :)
Also had a thing for awhile with those light up sneakers that all the other kids had but i couldnt wear becaues my feet were/are an odd size

I'm so glad I was not taking a drink when I read that!! That made me laugh.
I was obbsessed with formations - kinda weird. Or maybe a lot weird :-\ I would take pennies, pins, pepples or whatever I could find, it did not matter as long as I could find a lot of them, and I would line them all into different types of formations.
Pretty boring really, in hindsight.
LEGOs, animals, dinosaurs, building things, playing with dirt, hot wheels cars... I was a "tomboy" when I was little.
But I can't lie, I also loved horses, stuffed animals, and dolls. I still have all of my beanie babies in my closet.

I did a lot of this too! I liked arranging and grouping things. For instance, pennies could be sorted and arranged by date, colour, dirtiness, portrait version, etc... Although maybe you made artistic formations, and were less into compulsive categorization?
I loved animals, especially birds and snakes. I really wanted to be a vet until I found out I'd have to hurt animals to help them; I couldn't bear the idea of that.
Also, toy cars (like Hot Wheels), and anything that let me build stuff (electronic kits, toy construction sets of any kind, etc.).
QuoteAlthough maybe you made artistic formations, and were less into compulsive categorization?
No, not artistic. I did not group by dates but would by shiny / color and stuff.
Cutting off the heads of dolls,
putting them on other dolls.
And ninja turtles.
I was such a little boy.
my obsession, believe it or not.
what BRATZ dolls. haha.
i had a little case for them and everything, and i would yell at anyone who tried to take intems out of it, or undress the doll for a new outfit. i think i was more concerned about the case being disorganized, rather than the dolls themselves.
its funny how we grow out of such things so quickly, and we look back and think "wow, i cant believe i did that". haha.
its shameful, i know.

Me too, Lego and then Knex! So much fun! ;D
I was really into dinosaurs for a while :)
My childhood obsessions in no particular order were: dinosaurs, ballet, planes, drawing, warhammer, trying to make mutagen with my home chemistry set, dragons, witchcraft, trying to open portals to another dimension with my mind (i failed...lol), comics, fantasy fiction and science fiction.
I think that's about it, tho I'm sure there are some i've missed.
Music music music. I started my 'record' collection when I was about 3 (ABBA Arrival) and it became a means for me to escape reality. I would save pocket money or con my cousins out of theirs to put towards my habit. If I couldn't afford to buy music I would tape it off the radio and play it again and again even though it was pure crapola. How's the obsession today...hmmmmm I am still in denial! :D
Andii xx
I had a few phases (some that I still have lol)
I loved little plastic toy dogs. I used to collect them until I lost most of them somehow
I then went on to falling in love with everything Sonic the hedgehog and I still love everything Sonic lol.
I then went football (soccer) crazy but my dreams were crushed when I all the boys never gave me a chance to really play (I was the only girl on the team)
I then loved karate, had two lessons, then quit lol. That was a short phase
I then tried skateboarding. I still love it but i dont tend to do it anymore. I prefer to just watch now lol.
I had some weird ones lol.
-Greek mythology or fantasy stories, like folke lore.
-Loved animal stuff
-TNMT :P
-Power Ranges
-LOTRs
-Animea
And of course, Digimon and Pokemon.
