So, my old (female, but not feminine) underwear is starting to get a little grungy and it's about time for me to buy a few new packs and get rid of some of the old stuff. I'm also getting a new STP device (the P Style) that's hard plastic and can apparently be manuvered through a fly in underwear instead of having to pull them down. My question is, what kind should I get? Obviously I'm used to briefs. I've worn boxers before and I'm not a big fan of them as underwear, as good as they are to sleep in. They bunch up too much for me (of course, I was wearing women's jeans with them, which may have made a difference). I was thinking of trying boxer briefs. Am I gonna have trouble with sizing because of hips, which a huge even for a woman? I wear XL men's boxer pants to bed with no trouble, but I'm not sure if it'll be the same with underwear, which is meant to fit tighter. Are they gonna fit weird when I'm not packing? Any other advice?
Underwear is a problem. You can't really try it on before buying it...
You might want to try the next waist size up. If the briefs are too small, you won't be able to wear them at all. However, if your hips are really that big, slightly-too-large underwear won't slip down.
The boxer briefs I know and love are stretchy. I just don't know HOW stretchy.
I bought a pack of mens underwear just for packing purposes but I've found them so stinkin comfy I bought a few more and threw out all my girl panties! I've got SERIOUS ass...so I was worried I wouldn't fit into men's breifs but it hasn't been a problem.
I measured myself at my widest point and found undies that fit that range. I haven't tried boxer briefs so I can't speak to that, but the regular briefs are pretty comfy. They take some getting used to because the actual crotch area is wider than women's undies, but hey!! No more wedgies because of that fact!! Woot!
Boxer briefs are best.
Boxer briefs for sure. Comfy and you can wear them during the red death!
There's nothing saying you have to wear one style and one style only. Just buy one pack/pair of each and try them out.
Personally, I'm a briefs guy. I couldn't do boxer briefs, too tight around the legs for my liking. Which is a pity, cause I have awesome black and silver Atari ones.
I wear mostly briefs and occasionally boxer briefs. I only wear boxers if I wear a jock strap underneath so my junk doesn't fall out. I prefer the briefs because I never have the fear that my packer is going to shift funny or fall down my pant leg. My stp also fits well in them.
For wearing boxer briefs, I put the balls of the packer next to my body then put the shaft through the hole of the underwear to keep it from falling out. But it does shift around and I worry that it would fall out if I did anything too strenuous. I don't worry or do anything special when wearing just briefs.
I wear boxers unless I'm on my monthly madness then I wear briefs. I hate wearing boxer briefs because they ride up my thighs, and briefs are just too tight against my bum.
I just wear a harness with my dick that holds it in place all the time. It's comfortable, just a thin elastic band with a small elastic hoop for the shaft.
Thanks. I think maybe I'll just experiment a little and see what works for me. It's funny-- as fussy as people complain girls are about everything else, I think guys are way more fussy about their underwear.
Exactly what guys are you talking about? Most of the ones I know have shredded drawers, others, like me, wear what we want. We are guys. You have a problem with it? In an ideal world, no one sees it till its too late (that and that she is too drunk to notice.)
if my son is anything to go by holes and skidmarks seem the way to go

I'm not sure, but I think he means that guys are more dogmatic about the type of underwear they wear.

It would be a very strange man who actually used that "fly" Most men just stretch the elastic waistband down with one hand, reach in and flip the gear over the top of the waistband with the other. Getting a pubic hair caught in the zipper is a real pain..
nobody uses the fly but no man is going to buy any underwear without it

I always wondered about that. The fly in the underwear I have just seems like it'd be really awkward to use.

Exactly. You'll find some middle school/high school girls who worry about if other people are wearing thongs or "granny panties", but I find the boxers/briefs stigma for adolescent boys to be a lot stronger and it seems to move into adulthood. I didn't notice any girls flipping out about wearing granny panties instead of a thong past high school, but guys are giving eachother a hard time for wearing tighty whities pretty much til they die.
I'm very happy with my boxers - which, I might add, I bought specifically so I could use the fly ;P Much easier to reach in and pull the packer out of the way. Besides, I'm finding boxers to be very comfy, and I wear them with men's jeans so no ridges.
Good point about the crimson tide, though - packing at that time is gonna be a problem :-\ Last time I just reverted to women's undies and jeans until it was over, but if/when I get to RLE that won't be an option.
I use boxers, I love how comfortable they are.. and the fly is the easiest for my STP
but when im on my 'manstration' I have to wear my briefs (tightly whities)
you should try boxer briefs.. if you dont like the baggyness of boxers

I have a friend that has issue with them. I don't.
I'm much skinnier than he is, though, and even the small ones kind of have some room for me. Even if they were tighter I don't think it'd cause much hassle.

Nope.
My thighs are the wrong shape for boxer briefs (and boxers too, for that matter) because my inner thighs curve inward at the top so all the fabric likes to just bunch up in the triangular area they form. It's awful.

I have that too but for boxers it's fine since they're baggy and I get breathing room.
Ive given up on boxer breifs cause they ride up. i wear normal guys boxers, and when that time comes, i wear guys breifs under them.
I now wear boxr briefs. In the summer I will sleep in baggy boxers, but I no longer wear them on a daily basis. I am a smaller guy so that might be why I like them.

You'll feel comfortable like you did with briefs;
and you'll have enough room to use the STP device :]
Before I discovered the "cock sock"...I only wore tighty whities. But my drag dad introduced me to the cock sock, and gave me a packer. I'm not sure which model it is though. It's a 5 inch. But you take a sock, hold the packer up to the sock. Hold it so the balls are at the end of the toe, and mark where the shaft of the packer sits. Now cut a hole right there, not too large, remember that socks are stretchy. Just put the packer in there, and poke the shaft of your packer out through the hole you cut. From there you can buy velcro strips and glue velcro to your underwear and to the cock sock, or just safety pin it to your underwear. It's by far the greatest thing I've discovered, it made it so I can wear boxers and boxer briefs and do freakin cartwheels without worrying about my packer falling out of place.
Oh yeah, I do use the opening in the underwear. It's too much work to try to pull the top of the underwear down, shove my stp in place, and piss. I just push my packer aside (since it stays attached to my underwear, much easier to do now) and use the fly opening.
Do you put your packer on the outside of your underwear?
I think if you buy the XL then you should be fine...
They are stretchy all over and very comfortable so yeah...
But i have not seen you in person so you would know better than any of us.
But just keep in mind that they DO stretch!
And very ;D...
Briefs work best for me with a packer as far as holding it in the proper place goes. I love boxer briefs but they are too loose for the packer. I'm counting the days until lower surgery until I can wear them all the time!!!!!

I still have woman hips/thighs so wearing most men's underwear was not working out for me.
Currently I am wearing 'Hanes Classics Mix And Match His Boxer Brief' (SKU: BF49) which are male-styled boxer briefs tailored for women and they're insanely comfortable on me. The catch is, there is no open fly for these, the fly that appears on it is sewn shut and only for looks. For now, it's a comfortable compromise.

Ugh... I've got no ass. All mens briefs have too much ass for me, which creates obnoxious space when it comes to packing tight to myself. Its a pain the the well... lack of ass.
anyway as to the OP:
Look at your waist size[mens pants size,] and then match it up on the underwear package. Its usually a range if you're on the outer edges and want to be safe go up or down a size.

I might look into those. I wonder if I could go at that fly with a seam ripper?
I took a closer look. That might be possible but I think it might also wreck the integrity at the front, since it's not designed to have fabric overlap like a real fly. However it may also depend on your sewing expertise, mine is pretty rudimentary so I can't really make a good judgment on it.
If I'm packing, I wear a makeshift harness thing that is a pair of female briefs with a hole in the front that my packer sticks out of. The balls are still inside the briefs, so it holds my packer in place really well. Then I wear boxer briefs on top. I've went to amusement parks with this setup and done great, so I'm pleased with it. I tried the cheapy DIY packing strap with the two loops of elastic, but it didn't hold my packer in place tight enough for me. I suck at handy stuff though, so I might have messed it up haha. If I'm not packing, I just wear boxer briefs.
I discovered trunks a couple months ago, they are boxer briefs but with a shorter leg length. I have rather large hips and trunks fit around my waist and thighs best. They were so comfy that I did what Sevan did, got rid of every single pair of girl undies I had.
I have to ask, for you guys who have things rigged up where you end up wearing more than one pair of underwear at once- doesn't that feel uncomfortable, bulky and hot?

I don't think it's uncomfortable or anything. The only problem I've run into is where I'm wearing tighter pants and 2 pairs of underwear don't fit very well under them. Then I just wear the pair that the packer goes into and it works fine. Either way works good for me!
Boxer briefs ftw lol.
But i wear boxers to bed

I tried the 2 pairs of underwear thing b4.. I couldn't stand it.. cause the feeling have having 3 waistbands on me (2 underwear, 1 pants)at once was terrible and tight feeling..

alot of people have this problem.
sometimes, i find they fit alright around my backside, and front.
but then when they are over my thighs, it feels kinda restricting, expecially if you sit down in them.
I wear boxer briefs although if im just hanging around the house I wear boxers as they are really comfy. I can't wear boxers under my jeans as they bunch up.

I love the comfort of tagless boxer briefs but have to wear regular briefs when packing to keep it from falling down my pants. That would not be a good thing.

Do the tags bother you? Tags bother me so I cut them out of everything. Anyway, they make tagless briefs now too.
The tagless boxer briefs are the Hanes type. They are indeed tagless and are really soft and comfy. Wish I could wear them all the time but, alas, without modifications they do not offer the support needed for the packer.
As many modifications as we are forced to make in our lives as trans, I try to avoid any that I can and keep things as normal and simple as possible hence the regular briefs for packing. :-/
So I went out today and I bought some briefs (I also got some Axe body wash since I share my bathroom with my three sisters and all we have is fruity sweet girly stuff in there. I also decided to try a new men's deodorant, although as of right now I liked the one I was using before better). I figured I'd start simple with a 5 pack on fruit of the loom briefs and then I'll branch out from there. I got the XL and the leg holes were a little small, but I streched them a bit and now they're wicked comfortable. I'm not having any trouble adjusting to having more fabric. In fact, I LOVE having more fabric down there. With woman's underwear I always had this constant wedgie thing from the strip between the legs being too thin. I love the way these briefs are cut. The only problem with them was they didn't have tagless and the tag started bothering me so I ripped it off and I sort of undid the back seam of the waistband while I was doing it, so this pair may not last very long... :-\ Oh well, ya live and ya learn.
boxer briefs are amazing!
I pack and wear boxer briefs with no problems what so ever.

LordKat, you're gonna have them drooling if you don't give them some more info! You might want to tell people what kind of equipment (packer, briefs, trousers) you use so people can follow your example. What's your body type? That might also make a difference.
Slippage.......well.......I guess it would depend on when and where the slippage happened as to the extent of the problem. :-/ LOL
I am curious how LordKAT wears them all the time with no problem without modifications. Wearing them all the time would be awesome.
Ok The details are nothing special. I have a packy from DJ Hicks that is sometimes an STP. 3.5 inch thingy. The boxer briefs are right out of Rain man. meaning from K mart. Fruit of the loom. I wear jeans 98% of the time tho I don't see how that matters. I don't modify anything and it just stays where it belongs almost all the time. It has turned on me once or twice but never slipped down my leg as one person said happened to him. I'm about 5'6" and weigh about 220 lbs with a 36 inch waist. The briefs are a size medium. I'm not sure what other type details you would need. I have thought about using a harness so I can wear my swim trunks with the packer but so far I haven't done that.
If you want to know something different, please ask.
Has anyone tried the tranzwear version?
I wear boxers for the most part, which I suppose is weird cause I wear pretty fitted clothing. Tight underwear triggers my usually-nonexistent dsyphoria. I have a few pairs of brightly coloured boxer briefs for when I'm feeling particularly gay.

Has anyone tried the tranzwear version?
I love 'em, but now I'm wondering if I can go back to regular boxer briefs. LordKat has had success.
LordKat, I'm thinking that the right pair of pants can make all the difference. If a guy's boxer briefs are fairly roomy and he is wearing slacks or loose pants, maybe slippage could occur. I dunno.
i wear boxer briefs under jeans and when i'm wearing my STP i just put it inside the briefs, angle it so i'm not getting stabbed by the plastic bit and thats it it stays in place
boxers are roomy, boxer briefs fit rather well around the thighs while leaving some air in the crotch area.
I already had a pair of boxers, but I usually use them as pajamas, not underwear. So I finally worked up enough courage to buy a pack of briefs...omigosh, soooo comfortable and no wedgie-worries.
I live in Boxers. I never was comfortable with girly underwear. Maybe boxers are more comfy for me because all my pants are baggy though. Tranzwear rules above all else.
I think boxers fit many people considering the comfortable space they offer and nice little fancy design they come with.
