Yup, we need a Nope.
A nun who is pope.
The Catholic Church can never recover as long as its Holy Shepherd is seen as a black sheep in the ever-darkening sex abuse scandal.
Now we learn the sickening news that Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, nicknamed "God's Rottweiler" when he was the church's enforcer on matters of faith and sin, ignored repeated warnings and looked away in the case of the Rev. Lawrence C. Murphy, a Wisconsin priest who molested as many as 200 deaf boys.

If it was in my power those priests would have been defrocked and criminally prosecuted. If my mind serves me correct there was a case similar to the Wisconsin care here in New York. I also believe there was such a case in Massachuetts also.
Denying women into the priesthood is baseless. Just a bunch of patriarchal nonsense.
What galls me is that the Vatican has villified LBGT people, calling us a threat to marriage and society. What the pope fails to see is that this scandal hurts Catholic men and women who are upstanding worshippers in the faith.
Gennee
This tells you a lot about the RCC. They feel they are above the law, that women are inferior, that they can wage campaigns against those they disapprove of, all the while engaging in criminal activity.
As you said Gennee, they have no problem chastising LGBT people but somehow think it's okay to let their own priests molest innocent children and forever damage them.
At least its followers are beginning to open their eyes to the horrors and calling for action. Maybe big Ben will fall too.
QuoteIf the church could throw open its stained glass windows and let in some air, invite women to be priests, nuns to be more emancipated and priests to marry...
In other words, a system of "morality" should only exclude/punish for actual misconduct, reward beneficial behavior, and otherwise accept people for whoever they are. Additional constraints decrease the talent pool and increase the difficulty for people functioning in the system.
Also, these priests give guys who rock the frock a bad name. It's pretty annoying.
Religious persons have always given religion a bad name.

I had to laugh when I read this because it is so true. My wife often reads the website Fundies Say the Darndest Things for humor purposes and I often feel like shouting, "Get off my side!!! I am NOT YOU!!!!"
"If Christians would really live according to the teachings of Christ, as found in the Bible, all of India would be Christian today."
"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."
