A petition created by the Residence Halls Association, or RHA, in favor of adding gender identity and expression to the university's anti-discrimination policy is circulating throughout campus.
Each representative of RHA is trying to get as many student signatures on the petition as possible to bring the issue to light for MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon and the MSU Board of Trustees, RHA members said.
Simon will receive a recommendation in early December from the Ad Hoc Committee on Gender Identity, which was formed to research and address the issue of adding gender identity and expression to the university's policy, said Jen Tindle, an accounting senior who promotes the gender identity campaign.
