Title: Breast growth after SRS
Post by: sarahb on April 02, 2010, 09:22:17 PM
Here's a question for those who've been post op for a while. Have you noticed a greater increase in breast growth since the surgery? Now that the T factories are gone it makes sense that the E would be able to be more effective now, but I'd like to see how that translates into real life experiences.

Also, have any other physical changes increased after the surgery...more hair thinning, reduction or loss, more body fat in typical female areas, etc.? I'd like to know basically if the loss of the major producers of T have much affect on other physical changes, or if the E does all it can no matter if SRS has been done or not.

While not port-SRS, I am post-orchie, and I have had some breast growth.  Nothing to write home about but some.  Progesterone has now been added to my regime and I am anxious to see what it does.

Ok thanks Janet. Well, I guess one can always hope. I'll be keeping an eye on the girls for any significant changes.

I have a question for you Sarah.  You've been off hormones now for a number of weeks and have been post-op for a few days.  How did going off the hormones affect you and, are you noticing any differences at all since the surgery?  Or is that nasty 'T' stuff still coursing through your veins?

I didn't notice anything different when I stopped HRT. I haven't noticed anything different now after SRS. However, HRT affected me physically more than mentally, so I didn't expect to have any issues with depression or anything after stopping it. And any physical affects of stopping would not happen in such a short span of time.

Well I am not POST SRS but, when I got my breast implants I thought I was done growing, I went from a D to a DD!

All in all the implants are barely touchable anymore since it feels like nothing but breast tissue

Hi,

Depending on age , meds . your body & how you relate or react  to food drink. are all things that can effect  your body growth. for many after having s r s ,
the swelling will go down & being off meds for say 8 to 11 weeks,   depending on the person will have a slight loss of breast growth. that will come back in time when back on meds , there is no one way it happens the same for every one as we are all different,
So allow your self  time to ajust to every thing & to come back to what it was ,
For me at my age no increase in growth of breasts.
body fat no movement ,
Loss of t for some is quite a major, my loss about 10 % to 15 %,
There is one detail dont over eat keep your food & drink intake the same as to a normal woman & may be a little less is good . even doing a fast now & again is good ,

& that depends on what you work at , ajust your food to suit other wise about the same ,
The reason im saying this is some have problems with meds & food, thier body retains   like water retension so keep your self monitered & do your blood checks .

Hey Sarah,

Congrats on SRS!  For me, there was definitely substantial growth after surgery, but a large part of that is probably due to the passage of time under hormone treatment.  I had SRS maybe 14 or 15 months after beginning HRT, so I probably had a lot of growth left SRS or no SRS.  How long have you been on HRT?

I've been on HRT since the beginning of '06, so I'm most likely past any major growth spurts. However, a few weeks ago I did start having the usual pain, hardness, and I believe I grew some. My boyfriend, who should know since he touches them all the time, said he can tell a difference as well. So I'm hoping that I will again have a spurt of growth now that T is gone.

Noeleena - You're right in that it depends on the person. I was just wanting a general overview from others. Maybe if there were another girl with similar attributes as me who had growth or not then I could use that as a good judgement.

I noticed a lot of changes. It didn't happen right away, however -- I think it's 'cause my body was still healing and sorta in shock. After a few months, I got growth. I'm still having growth spurts (I'm having one right now). I noticed my hips also got bigger, body hair definitely got thinner. I gained some weight after a couple of months, and then lost it again. I think it was just my body adjusting.

I've been on HRT since '06, too. I'm almost at my 4 years HRT in a couple of months.

Sarah, I think changes will occur throughout one's life, especially after srs.  For example, I've been on hrt for twelve coming on to thirteen years.  Last year my GP switched me over from spironolactone to androcur and the changes were remarkable!  As well, I'm somewhat a fitness/nutrition fanatic.  I workout five times per week and supplement with, not only vitamins/minerals, but amino acids and protein as well.

A few months back I switched one amino acid (l-cysteine) to another more stable form of the same amino acid NAC or n-acetyl-cysteine.  Shortly after the switch, I began noticing the same feelings in my breasts as you described. A short time later, I noticed more fullness in my breasts as well.  After some research I found that NAC, aside from being a powerful anti-oxidant, also plays a key role in hormone regulation.

I'm confident you will experience growth based simply on your age.  I'm confident I'll experience growth after my sugery based entirely on my nutrition and fitness and the way my body metabolizes estrogens.

Well that's good to hear. The two main things I'd like are more breast growth and a reduction of body hair. My body hair is pretty normal for females, but I just don't like it at all. I want it to all fall out. My breasts are now a solid A, but I'd like at least a full B if not a small C. I'm planning on keeping track of any changes I notice in the next year and post the results.

As for other things, my hips and stomach already have a very feminine shape, that along with the major pelvic bone shift I had early on, I'm not worried if I don't get any changes there. Also, my butt is already full enough too, so I'm hoping the fat doesn't start shifting there any more than it has, lol.

You most likely will see an increase in body fat due to the drop in T levels in your body.  T is responsible for the development of lean muscle mass in both males and females.  This lean muscle helps to burn more calories than fat cells do.  A drop in T levels will result in the loss of lean muscle mass resulting in an overall weight gain due to decreased metabolism.

This is my big concern as well and one I addressed to Dr. Brassard during my consult.  My concern was how long will it be before I can get back into my routine--about six weeks was his reply. That's one reason why I'm training so hard now, so I don't experience too much loss after surgery.  I hate fat!!  I detest fat!!  Right now I'm sitting at a comfortable B cup and that is primarily breast tissue with little fat.  I think that after surgery, depending on my metabolism, I will probably go to a small C.  Not that I really want to as I'm pretty comfortable with what I have--I would just like a little more fullness to add a bit more cleavage.

That's exactly why.  The same thing happened to me.  I had a huge Michelin around my waist and that created the illusion of having less breast tissue than I actually had.  Smaller waist, flatter stomach will work together to give you the curves

After almost two years on HRT, I'm barely an A cup, so I opted for a BA. I am curious to see if ridding myself of the offending testosterone producers will add more on top of the BA. For me the BA is a must, especially with the lack of sufficient development, I'm nowhere near comfortable with what I have right now.

Nearly two years hrt is not nearly enough time to for tremendous results.  If I were you I would give it a few years.  You will definitely develop further given your age, especially after grs.  I stated hrt when I was thirty-ish and I'm still noticing changes at 44.

Kristyn, thanks for the nutrition info!  I don't see any point in switching AA's at this point as I go off them in 7 weeks anyways, for good. I'm so tempted to add BA at the same time as my SRS like Valerie is doing, but even then I will only be at 15 months HRT which I don't think is long enough to tell what the final outcome will be. I'm also planning to add Progesterone after surgery for other reasons, which I've heard can affect breast growth as well.

Women's breasts change all the time, depending on weight, age and other factors.

A lot of you know I got breast implants last year, I had a B cup which I got 375/390CC put in. This gave me a full D, but with hormones stimulating grrowth again it became a DoubleD now, you may think that a Double D is big.. but it's really proportioned to my body!

I have 0 regret getting breast implants.

Exactly, its all down to your posture, when I had mine redone a few years ago, I use to have saline implants, had them replaced by silicone implants and went bigger on the redo, Im now a full DD, I found silicone implants also gave me a better cleavage with the right support bra, they get a lot of male attention and my Boyfriend / Fiancé absolutely adores them.
