Title: Testosterone and Joints
Post by: Tay on April 06, 2010, 07:54:07 AM
Anyone else suffering from joint pain??

I've been on T for nearly 8 months and in that time I seem to have quite a few aches, sprains and pains. I wonder if T has affected my joints in any way. It's made me grow a bit so maybe that has caused some upset in my body.

I displaced a Facet joint in the bottom of my spine with no apparent cause about two months ago and now I am suffering with pain in my shoulder blade and ribs. My ankles also get sore from time to time.

Any ideas? Maybe just coincidence?

Damn, I thought I was the only one. My feet will hurt too but I think that's from growing since my shoe size has increased. I haven't sprained anything though- just joint pains. Perhaps growing pains? :D

Maybe... I've grown about half an inch and my feet have grown two and a half sizes. Certainly didn't expect that, I was told nothing would grow more because I'm 24 and everything would've stopped!

I have had a lot of growing pains in my joints, especially my knees, ankles, and wrists.

My feet hurt once in a while.  The first month or so it felt like both my arms were being pulled out of their sockets.  Before T I used to have pain in my hip a lot, now not very much.

A lot of the time I get cramps in my thigh when changing position.  I think it's mostly the right, shot side, but maybe sometimes the left.

Okay, since this is a good place to ask, I have a question for you guys:

Right now I have bad joints, and T's a fair way off still. By bad I mean stiff and sometimes sore practically everywhere (shoulders, fingers, even toes and foot bones) that make a quiet to loud cracking noise/sensation whenever I flex them. My legs are worst of all because they've been messed up by flat feet that've gone most of my life untreated. My question is, what are the chances of all/any of this getting better or worse on T?

NB: Yes, I've had tests before to try and find out what's wrong. Physio (who discovered my flat feet) referred me to rheumatologist, who sent me away with leg exercises and "well, I know it's not rheumatism", blood tests came back negative for arthritis. Recently found a connection between joint problems and hormone imbalance, so have asked for hormone checks (bonus being it can be handy for GIC ^_^), and the doc said she'd get some joint tests done as well. Results from all this don't come through 'til about a fortnight's time, but thought I'd ask on the off-chance.

My joints stopped aching actually, lol. Haven't got any growth pains yet.

I sprained my knee a couple of weeks ago. The last time it happened was when I was about 14, so original puberty time. I thought it was just because I was being a bit clumsy (standing up taking my shoe off and trying to throw it into a bin whilst standing on one leg-WHY???) but perhaps it's to do with the T?

Doing more silly things that cause minor injury is just part of being on T

I've heard wrist pain is very common on T - but then again it's also common in teenage boys ;)

I've had a sore wrist (no, not for *that* reason) since about a week ago. I thought it was too early for any of the joint changing to be happening (3 weeks when it started). A few other bits of joint pain here and there too, but nothing major. Had a pretty painless time first time around - not expecting much different.

Huhn.  I've had a very sore right elbow for a couple months now, and the pain is moving down to my wrist.  I assumed it had to do with my job, which it probably does,  but maybe it's being exacerbated by the T.  I've definitely had a lot more muscle cramps since starting T, almost a year ago.

I'm backwards from you guys. My joint pain lessened on T. Now I wonder why.

Same here. My ankles used to ache all the time, now they feel... strengthened. I'm thinking it has to do with bone density.

I got "loose tendons" (hyper-extensive joints) and this has caused me joint-pain pretty much all over for the last, oh, decade or so.

It's been 112 days now, and my wrists have been killing me over the last week or two. The back's been hurting too. But this isn't terribly out of the norm so far, so.. I don't know.
