Title: came out
Post by: fdfge on April 06, 2010, 11:15:54 PM
i told my dad last week through a straight and to the point letter no more than 5 sentences what i wanted to do and what i was going through in terms of wanting to change genders
he responded with another letter that was much longer, i always new he would be accepting but im pleased to say he took it even better than i had imagined
he basically said he would always be there and always help and would always support me
which is great
infact he wants to talk about it more than i do
so i thought i would share my good news with u guys..i wasnt even planning on telling him it was just a urge and i contemplated giving him the letter for a long time and i eventually just said screw it and gave it to him
so i guess things are on the right path im still nervous and scared but things are looking good.

Glad to hear it went well dude. That's kind of how I came out too. I think coming out is something where you never really feel the time is right, but you just get the feeling as time goes on that it's now or never so might as well come out with it. :P

That is VERY good news.

Having support during transition is very important and very much needed, especially when it is a family member and even better a parent.

In my opinion parents are the hardest nuts to crack  ;)
