This past Sunday, I came out to my pastor.
As I thought, there is indeed another TG (MTF, to be precise) in the congregation. And, the seminarian intern who served there a while back put forth an ambiguous gender presentation. As a result, "gender identity" was added to the list of "diverisities" that are welcomed at this church (Unitarian Universalist of San Mateo).
The pastor seemed to think that transitioning in this particular church would be another place of support for me.
So: my wife, kids, and pastor have all pretty much accepted me as I pursue what might be a transition from andrygyne to MTF. So far, so good.
Awesome, and good luck! :) More and more, UUs restore my faith in religion as a benevolent force...
UU's rock!
Well, my wife is also a United Church of Christ minister, so it's not just the UU's who are open and accepting.
I'm also out as a genderqueer/androgyne to a Soto Zen Buddhist priest, but I haven't seen her since beginning this MTF process. My guess is she'll still welcome me, too.
