O K , aside from giving away my age , I remember reading an exerpt in Motor Trend Magazine in 1969 about a Dale Auto company in Los Angles California . According to the story , the woman who ran the company was later discovered to be trans . Now exactly what happened to the prototypes , and the woman as thats not exactly clear to me . I heard through the grape- vine then in the mid seventies that the woman committed suicide . Then too I heard of her being murdered too. If anyone has any pictures of the cars , her , etc, can someone P- M me ? Ellen
I do. That is going back aways. One of the first examples of a transgendered woman I remember being aware of. Unfortunately, if I remember correctly, she was a con-woman. I do not remember her name right now, nor her outcome. Hopefully we can flesh this story out.

Ok, let's all show our age...
My memory agrees with the con-woman story. And the inference that she was running the con to get money for her operation...
Throw in a dash of google queening...
And Voila!

and the wiki article about the Twentieth Century Motor Car Corp:

The main elements of this story which I recall refer to "Liz Carmichael" as a ->-bleeped-<- who was later captured.
I find it fascinating that we seem to have an innate ability to recall just about any trivial piece of information if it is in regards to gender however tenuous it seems to be. ;)
Wow, we could probably come up with a new Trivial Pursuits game module!
