A few months ago Mike Knapp from the MOSI Museum contacted me and asked my permission for them to use a 6' image of my painting "Depression's Mirror" in one of their displays. He told me it would be hanging next to Munich's Scream and a Van Gogh Self-Portrait. I was blown away of course! I was also incredibly honored! I found out later that this is going to be a permanent display which made it even better.
Well, it is for a good cause so I was happy to do this for them. It is hanging in their mental health exhibit. When I created "Depression's Mirror" I was going through a serious bout' with depression. Once the painting was finished my depression vanished. Not sure if it was just timing or if therapy was involved.

Congratulations! I'm not surprised to see it next to "The Scream" as your painting reminds me of that imagery.
wow awesome Dana! congratulations!
Awesome Dana. Congratulations and the exposure will be awesome.
Thanks ladies. I am kind of hoping this inspires me to start painting again one day. No depression ones, though!! :)

That's fantastic, congrats. And yeah, art has a way of helping with depression.
Wow!! :D That is *super*!!! What an honor!!!
:o Wow...Dana I kno' you said you painted this while suffering depression, but can I say this...your painting is very "energentic" I feel tha' energy you express through the canvas...I can see why the art "curator" Mike of MOSI wanted to place it next to Munich's and VanGogh's impressions...
"Depression's Mirror" is very powerful it says, "I am feeling pain...do you not see the pain I am experiencing...can you not feel it...through me...???"
No wonder your depression left you after painting this...you imported all your depression onto the canvas, und alowed it to speak for you...I saw, I heard, und I listened... ;D

I was watching my own self vanishing from myself. I felt I was just a shell of myself. It was pretty horrific. I am so thankful I don't have serious problems with depression. But the two week period I created this in was very bad.
In the photo, it looks like your picture is cosying down very nicely with the other two.
Dana I'm seriously impressed - You are obviously a very talented lady.
If you don't get some commissions to paint out of this there is something very wrong with the world.
There's so much raw feeling in that painting. I love it. Amazing work!
congrats dana
That painting is beautiful and incredibly emotive. Congratulations.
